So I just got a phone call this afternoon.  It's possible that I will be racing an ARDC Midget in either September or October this year.  My buddy is putting together a second car as a backup and wants me to put some laps on it for him.  So I will be heading up to PA sometime in September so that I can make some laps in it.  Here is the link to the site http://www.ardcmidgets.com/

Looks like I will get to dust off my racing equipment one more time.  I have lost so much weight this summer (almost 30 lbs now) that my racing suit from college almost fits.

Now that looks like fun! Good luck! Hope it happens!

Our 4th was pretty decent this year. We did the fireworks thing in Nola and Saturday we had a family-reunion. It was good to see all those people without someone having died to provide a reason :)

I guess everyone is still on vacation.  Its been awefully quiet on the boards this past week.  We also may have a wedding to celebrate on this cruise.  One of Kathy's co-workers is talking about getting married on our cruise!  :balloons:

That would be fun helping them celebrate their marriage! At least we could make it a memorable honeymoon!:angeldevil1:

Has anyone looked into booking flights yet? I'm itching to get everything arranged! Also, hoping that I can find a good deal and lock it in. Any suggestions? I'm going to call Terry to see if she can offer any advice.

Flights are a minute-by-minute type of deal :( If you find something that you could live with, I would book it. No telling what they will be later. We still haven't decided if we are driving or flying.

I haven't as of yet.  I'm focusing more on paying for the cruise first.  I can always book flights later.  If you are looking I would suggest using http://www.kayak.com.  It finds the  best from everyone.  You can also call Terry.  I think she likes to hear from us from time to time as well.

When it gets closer to March, I will maybe see if she can block us a set of rooms near port in Miami so that we can all be close together and hang out.

Thanks, the weight loss is from all of the cycling and hockey this summer.  The race should be a lot of fun.  I just need to find some equipment and I should be good to go.

How are the plans for the reunion coming for next month?

I don't think we are going to be able to make it in August, but just a couple more weeks and we are headed down to NOLA! Wish ya'll could be there!

We will be there of course in August and in a couple of weeks!:P

In fact, we will be there Friday. We have been invited to stay at Harrah's new hotel and dinner at Emeril's Delmonico. We have a friend who is GM of a large media company (radio) and everything will be comped. There is no way we would do either if we had to pay! :nono:

Delmonicos may be something you and DH may want to do while in NOLA. It's on St Charles so you could take the streetcar. I'll let you know how it goes and $$ and such.

:biker:Well hello there strangers! LOL

Good morning to all....I just been soooo busy, all I have time for is to browse at what you guys been up to. Hope you all had a good couple of weeks! AND thankfully its FRIDAY:wine:

About the flights......this is just my 2 cents.....with gas prices .....I believe we are just in a bubble....just like the tech bubble....housing bubble.... and so forth....it has to pop....sooo...with that being said....I do believe it will pop by the time the cruise rolls around....flights are around 284 a person....I have been checking prices since January!... I know... not the exact date but every time I would check I would go to the furthest date possible to book and compare each week....yes it has been rising since Jan. but as I said... as soon as the speculators start to have more rectrictions on them...which is slowly happening....crud prices will begin to fall..... yes they're many factors that can happen with the election and what not....but the big picture....hopefully this damn bubble will pop! Plus I don't know if you guys checked South West....but the furthest they book out is in November right now... and checking Miami flights....its around $200 a person.... so hopefully South West is still an option by May. But again, thats how I see it and lets hope I'm not wrong! :dangit:

Welcome back stranger.  I'm not sure about the plane tickets yet.  Evidentally we are now in our window where we can book flights now (from what the TA says).  I haven't checked any flights yet but I guess if they are cheap enough I will go ahead and book them.  I would say that if they are above $300 a person I'll just figure on driving.  Who knows what will happen over the next few months.  I guess if I see a really good deal I would go ahead and book.

SW is not an option from Charlotte, but everytime I have flown with them I feel like I have to fight to get a seat.  It's like opening the flood gates to get down the jetway!!

I'll probably just focus on paying for the cruise first and then worry about getting there.  Maybe I'll try AMTRAK!!

AS of now....about half of our group is flying and the other half is driving.....with the current price of $284 right now. Chris and I are flying no matter what.....well unless its like $700 per person...but hopefully that will not be the case.  So its just playing the waiting game and hope our conclusions about crud will come true.  But we are definitely not purchasing any tickets anytime soon....unless for some odd know reason it falls to like $150 per person....which is not likely.... but I can't imagine driving 15 hours after a week long of non stop partying!!

Oh and Jason....believe me I have been checking every way possible to get to Miami without driving....and nothing is an option....damn train tickets are crazy...greyhound... not worth it...even looked into renting a bus for everyone in our group.....HA....yeah ....again not an option.

Well hope everyone is having a good Friday! Don't party to much this weekend......well just don't do anything I wouldn't do!....;)  :fingers
