Good morning!
We ended up staying at The Marriot 'cuz the Media co. we were guests of had set up a new package with them and wanted to try it out. It was nice but I don't think I would stay there if I had to pay. We also had a Limo ride to Nola and back which was nice.
Delmonico's was a real disappointment. Service was mediocre, servings were small, cost was high. An example is the steak I ordered, a 3"X4"X1" "steak" was $40.00. All but our appetizers was cold. They do this choreographed thing where all Entree's are served at the same time so the first cooked is the coldest. Even the butter was too cold to spread. To get to our table we were led through the kitchen and up some stairs to what ,in days gone by, was the back porch. What really sucked about it though was the fact that they had no Crown Royal in stock !
LMAO! I sound like a snob!:eyeroll:

Well that's disappointing. Thankfully it was comped, huh? No Crown Royal??
Each time we go to NOLA we say we are going to try one of Emeril's restaurants but we never get around to it. I never really hear anything good about them anymore though. The only bad meal we've had in NOLA was at Bacco and it was terrible.

Yep, no Crown, and no Crown =
If you really want to do one of the Emeril restaurants, I recommend NOLA in the Quarter. There are several other good restaurants though.

I have heard Delmonicos went a little down hill....but I didn't expect the food quality to not be to par. Yeah, as for portions and price...that's typical...but as for as hot appetizers being cold... or entrees being cold...not a good sign... and as for as gas prices...there liquor shipments are probably not coming in as frequently as they did before and they have not adjusted to that yet, thus being out of crown royal....which sucks on the consumer's point of view....and bad management on their part....but understandable.... but if guys are in the NOLA area Palace Cafe is excellent....they're food quality and service has not changed since Katrina...well minor changes....but all in all very nice place to check out! Also Bourbon House is one place I would put on my list to eat....I have not had any complaints there and we eat there every time we vist....I absolutely love that place!
Well hope everyone had a great weekend! And I will be in NOLA this weekend so I can't wait! Party Time!

Bourbon House is a good choice! I still prefer our old stand-by, The Gumbo Shop though. We will be in NOLA Sunday to meet some fellow Cruise Critic members (see Becky on my MySpace page ). Will you still be there?

| So with 8 rooms booked, does that get us anything extra? I know booking with Carnival, booking a group with at least 8 rooms gets either a free berth for someone, or they can share the savings, or something like that. Goodness knows I enjoy free stuff!

Yes, it usually means something good will be forth-coming :)
We call it Lagniappe (something extra) here.

Yeah, actually I have been working on that with Terry. I haven't really pinned anything down on that yet. She's been putting pressure on me to decide. I think we are going to setup a cocktail party for us at 2pm on the departing day so that we can all get some free drinks before we depart. So we would got the party, then the muster drill, and then to the Lido Deck for sail away. I think that would work well since there seems people from all over joining us. That will give everyone about an hour to meet (which I am positive we will all catch up with each other on Saturday in Miami anyway.)
As for gifts, I haven't picked that. I wanted to get your feedback on that. I was thinking about getting everyone a photo coupon and an OBC. I could also just apply everything towards an OBC. There's also an option for Champagne and Chocolates. I'm not big on that though. There are certain point values for everything and we have 5 total points. If there is something that jumps out at you let me know. Most of the people going are your friends and family so you know better what they like than me guessing. The more cabins we have, the more points Terry can request for our group.

I like the idea of the party.
Other than that and an OBC, I can't think of anything that would appeal to my group.

I also like the idea of a cocktail party. Depending on how much we start consuming, I would like to see us all drunk and in bright orange vests trying to listen to the muster drill lol.
So what does 5 points get you? I mean, how many points does it take for most things? I like the OBC and photo coupon idea. What are our other options?

Here are the items. The robes jumped out at me but then I would probably need another suit case just to pack them in. Personally, I'd rather get the OBC 100% and you can go spend it how you choose
Item Min. Cabins # of Points
Champagne and Chocolates 5 1
Sparkling Cider and Chocolates 5 1
Carnival Robes 5 3
Photo Coupon 5 1
8 X 10 Group Photo 25 1
Memory Book 5 1
Carnival Tote Bag 5 1
Shared Cocktail Party 8 1
Private Cocktail Party 50 2
Ship Board Credit
$25.00 per stateroom 5 1
$50.00 per stateroom 5 2
$75 .00 per stateroom 5 3
$100.00 per stateroom 5 4

| I vote the $100 OBC and either the cocktail party or the champagne and chocolates. That'll use up the 5 points.

I have a feeling you could buy the Champagne and Chocolates cheaper than the $25 it would eat up of the OBC. Dan could probably vouch for this

$21-$32 for most. The stuff that you get as a welcome aboard gift is quite a bit cheaper. (and tastes like it)

No cheap champagne for our group!! I think the $100 OBC and a cocktal party would serve us best. That way you can spend the money how you see fit! Any objections on that? You can buy a bunch of Rum drinks for $100:drunkfriends:
