OK, let's sum up what we have as of now.  It's really early in the game to be planning for a May 08 trip, but it gives us time to nominate and /or ditch different ideas on cruises and resorts.

We can either do a cruise (my choice), or a land-based all-inclusive resort.  I think we have narrowed it down to a Western Caribbean cruise (although an Eastern isn't 100% ruled out yet).   We have been thinking about an all-inclusive resort around the Costa Maya area, and we could take the ferry to Cozumel to party with PB Tom one day.

Please, everyone, feel free to state your thoughts/opinions on the following choices. Also, feel free to add any other choices and we'll all discuss it!

Mariner of the Seas Western Caribbean          (out of Port Canaveral, Fla)
Liberty of the Seas   Western Caribbean         (out of Miami, Fla)

NCL Spirit  Western Caribbean                        (out of NOLA)
NCL Jewel  Western Caribbean                        (out of Miami)  (This is a 5-day cruise)

I don't do 5 day cruises so I wouldn't vote for the NCL Jewel. NOLA would be fun. Haven't been down there in quite a while. Really, any of the 7 day westerns (or eastern if we find one) would be fine with me. It really boils down to time and cost with us. This early in the game so much could change.

I can't even get DH to commit to something for THIS year. :flamin:

You forgot the Sun out of Miami. And I also don't remember the Jewel even being mentioned because of the 5 day intinerary.

I just threw the Jewel in there coz I thought it was a new ship.  I don't like 5-day cruises either, but I thought I'd give it a chance. So far, no takers!!!!!!

Did anyone post an itinerary of the Sun? I must have missed it.

7-Day Western Caribbean Round-trip Miami
Ship: Norwegian Sun
Embarkation Port: Miami
Ports of call: Miami; Roatan; Belize City; Costa Maya; Great Stirrup Cay

So, the Sun does not go to Cozumel...........that rules it out for me......

There's not that much for AI's (or anything else) in Costa Maya, plus you're a couple of hours from the airport.  You'd be better off around Playa del Carmen in the Riviera Maya area.

They're in Riviera Maya.  Costa Maya's where some of the cruises go, and is further south.

Too many Maya's to keep straight!

That would be my first choice, too, Ken.  Second choice would be one of the land-based resorts.  They all look great!  How will we choose?

Bama,
On one post, you said that cruising wasn't relaxing for you.  :wtf:

Just because the ship is in port each day, doesn't mean you have to get off the ship!
In fact, my favorite days on board are the days we are in port, and DH & I just stay on the ship!  It's heaven!  No fighting to get a chair by the pool, and no waiting in line at the lunch buffet!!!!!! :breakfast:

We could take over the pool deck and just kick back & relax while everyone else is hoofing it around the island!!!!!  :tropics:

I could deal with that!

All inclusive=Total relaxation with nothing to do unless you want to.

Cruise=Continous things to do with very little relaxation.

I vote for liberty of the seas and if thats a no go then an all inclusive in Maya Riviera....I would love to cruise from Nawlins but there are 2 issues with that...one is its the Spirit and two its a five day cruise....hell I can barely bring myself to do 7 day cruises instead of my usual 10-12 dayers much less a 5 day!

I say we vote on cruise or all inclusive first then decide when cruise/resort after that??  I LOVE voting...makes me wish I lived in Florida to make in even more exciting! :martini:
