Any time other then Memorial Day is good for us. I would rather stay on the western side.  The Sun is doing a western (NCL), the May schedule is not out yet I dont think.

So whats the name of this group? FOCN? :big grin:

My only petential objection would some of the new RCI Behemouth of the Seas ships. Just a little to big for my taste. I would probably jump all over A NCL Sun out of NOLA. The Sun is my favorite ship (other than the Norway) of all time.

PE

I just checked out the Sun's new itineraries out of Miami for Spring of '08. Looks very interesting Roatan, Belize, Costa Maya, and Private Island.

What about the Spirit out of NOLA?  I am not familiar with NCL's ships.

Also, RCCL's Liberty is the big mama (which I'm not crazy about either), but Mariner is only the 2nd biggest.:big grin:.........I typically wouldn't choose one of the bigger ships, but Mariner might be fun for a 7-day cruise with the group!!

We've been on the Spirit and it is a nice ship. I believe they resolved some of the localized cooking issues on her last drydock. Nice itinerary with Coz instead of Roatan. I think the diving in Roatan is better than Cozumel but there are more things to do in Coz after diving.

I'd vote yes for NOLA and the Sun!

Actually the Sun is moving to Miami and the Spirit is moving to NOLA. Both ships are great options. Good itineraries.

It's on the Spirit, not the Sun..........

7-Day Exotic Western Caribbean Round-trip New Orleans

But I like it because I have never been to Costa Maya or Belize.

Bama can handle the particulars about Costa Maya. Belize is a very interesting place. There are cave tubing excursions. Great diving/snorkling. The only drawback is the amount of time involved with tendering into port. It is a 45 minute tender ride even in high speed boats.

The last time we were there we booked an excursion to Coral Sand Beach Resort. They picked us up the ship and headed straight to their island. It was a great beach day and would probably be even better now since they were in the process of building a LOT of infrastructure when we there.

What cooking issues?  Does it have a lot of dining choices for their Freestyle concept?

The Spirit is a great little ship. It does have a goofy pool area because of all the columns and "fencing". But the Biregarten is a great place to hangout.

Probably because they haven't released the itineraries yet, but through April it's Saturday.

Cooking issues!!!

The spirit has all of the same dinig options that the newer NCL ships have. It was previously the SuperStar Leo in Star Cruises fleet. Star was dabbling in the Freestyle philosophy a long time ago.

The localized cooking issues pertained things like being able to cook omolets in the buffet area or booking burgers and fries in the Biergarten. Everything was cooked in the main galleys and transferred to the "dining" areas. All of these issues were fixed with her last drydock.

A lot depends on where the ship is able to anchor.  On Grand Princess, we were less than 20 minutes away.  Norwegian Dream was further out.  If they can get the Spirit where the Grand was, it'd be a big plus.
