Karl just called. Guess what Mom is pitching in for a good computer chair

He's got bad elbow from so much, so many years spent on a computer. I told him yes to the chair but he needs to lay off the computer.

I've got a bit of a throat ache and a headache. Wonder if last night's mojitos did it or am I coming down with a cold :sharks:

My first try at making mojitos was not a great favorite but the rum in them was good:surrender:

Firstly I don't have an ice crusher. So I put soda water with fresh mint and ice in the blender to make a slush - not very successful - mint became to powerful.

I used sugar because simple syrup was not on hand - which reminds me I must go make some.

I'll have to try again but with more preparation.

Yes my dog's name is Abby. She is a silky terrier and is her Daddy's little girl. She is such a sweetheart. She is 5 years old and is spoiled rotten. My mother and her gentleman friend come up to our house and Abby sit when we go on cruises.

I'll give you some info on us. Jeff and I are both in our 50's. We both have birthdays in Dec. We are not legally married but we are soulmates so we consider ourselves married. We have been together 6 years in Sept.He has 2 kids, his son is getting married in Aug.Both his son and daugher live in VA. I have one daughter who lives in Rochester,NY and is a Spanish teacher.

It took me 2 years to talk Jeff into taking a cruise but his first look at a ship and he was hooked. Thank goodness. He has been on the Carnival Legend twice and the Crown Princess last year. I was a devoted Carnival cruiser (over 12 cruises) but I love Princess and it doesn't matter to me what cruise line as long as I'm on a cruise. We are trying to do a cruise a year. Some years are harder than others.LOL

We live in the Finger Lakes of New York State near Ithaca.Right in the middle of wine country.A really beautiful area.We are in a very ,very small town. Not even a traffic signal!

I think this year we will skip formal nights. We are not into dressing up and plus it means packing extra stuff. We like to do the self-disembark so the less luggage the better. Not sure is we'll attempt to drive ourselves to the port this year.We usually drive to Clarks Summitt and get a limo the rest of the way.Costly but nice but last year the limo was very, very pricey with the cost of gas and I'm sure this year would cost us even more. Still thinking on that one.

We are not party people. Mostly like to eat and eat and eat and lay in the sun while cruising. We also like the productions they put on .I do like my foo-foo drinks but it doesn't take many to get a buzz. Last year at Grand Turk at Margaritaville,we outdid ourselves on frozen margaritas. Jeff had never had one and the next day he said he'd never have another one. But he's rethinking that for this year.

Enough about me. Just wanted to give you a little background. And when I said we were short-we are both 5ft 2 in.

Why would you use an ice crusher:confused:

A few mint leaves

3/4 of fresh lemon or lime juice

2 tsp. of simple syrup

1  and a half oz. of light rum

soda water for topping up

Put the mint leaves in a glass and crush them. Add the lemon or lime juice and sugar syrup and stir. A dd plenty of ice (need not be crushed, or you can. I don`t) and the rum, stir again. Top up with soda water. Sprig of mint as a garnish.

from Peter Bohrmann..The Bartender`s Guide.

This is the only reason that I grow fresh mint in my garden:martini:

Laura,

Fil, Susie and I have cruised together  before if you have not guessed that already.

As I said I am a Travel Agency owner and my husband is a music teacher (private). We have been married for many years:shock: and have one married son, Steven. We both come from small towns so I am aware of what you mean, tho mine had more then one traffic light.

I have cruised many, many times  the last big cruises have been with NCL (with small ones in between) we are ready to try Princess again. We always liked Princess and are a little tired of NCL for now.

We like to relax, enjoy the ship and the sea. We DO NOT go to the production shows. We prefer small venues instead. Anytime dining appeals to us because NCL Freestyle is what keeps us sailing NCL. We don`t like to be locked into a set time for anything. We like to eat too and I am a vegetarian so I am hoping that Princess has good veg. food. I was a chef and a culinary teacher in my former life.

We have a dog named Chicklet who will be turning 12 April 1st. Daddy`s little girl also. What is it with our men and their dogs and cats:roflmao: Susie will have to tell you about Dora. We get a dog sitter that lives in the house when we travel.

I am short too...5'1".

Gee, I am short also. My husband is tall. We are both fluffy.

AJ and I have an insurance agency for many years and now our son works for us. Third generation business.

I live in a very busy small town with lots of commerce and traffic.

We like to cruise but also take as many other kinds of vacations as we can. It's about that time for us before we get too old or too sick.

We will be celebrating our 34th wedding anniversary right before we cruise in Sept.

We have a grown son and daughter. My daughter married last summer and moved into her first house this January. My son lives in the same building as our business.

We have a two year old Maine Coon cat who is a killer queen or daddy's little girl...it depends on how you look at it.

I tried taking a nap cause I was feeling pooched, as Linda says. But not being a nap person I lay down and read and then just day dreamt for a while.

I just made Pierre's days by telling him that we don't have to go out to see our travel documentary, as I've explained before, even though tonight was India and I am interested in seeing it. But my hibernating bear is just in the mood for nice drinks and food. :P

Ann thanks for the mojito recipe I will have another go at it.

Okay so here is my pedigree :P

I was born in Portugal but have lived in the province of Quebec in Canada for 30 years, as a matter of fact this September will be the 30th anniversary of our arrival in Canada.

I have a son, Karl, who will be traveling with me, his gift for his 30th birthday this april 5th. Karl is my best memory of my Portuguese first husband.

I have been married for 15 years to Pierre my adorable French Canadian husband. Pierre is CEO of a detox center. I work for the federal govt, I am an unemployment dept agent. Which just means that all through the day people yell at me cause they didn't get their cheque.:flamin:

We love to cruise and since we found cruising out of NYC we do it more often because airplane tickets out of Montreal are very pricey. This way we drive to NYC and park at the pier.

We used to have a dog, Nina, but she went to doggy heaven on December 26th 2006.

Here is a photo of Nina and I  and Karl and Nina on the day she left us:

Oh JOY

I just saw a family of duck behind the house, in the river. Beautiful black and white ones. Spring is here.

BTW the storm has stopped with the blowing snow, we have had for the past couple of hours soft snowflakes falling, loads of them.:cloudnine:

Have any of you decided what you are doing in all the ports? I need ideas for San Juan and Bermuda.

I have NEVER been to Bermuda - so I'm going to let my TA suggest something since she's been there zillions of times.

San Juan is going to be a walking tour of some sorts. Didn't get off the ship last cruise. I"ve had the pleasure of spending a week in Puerto Rico a few years back. Pierre and I dream of our day spent in Flamengo Beach on Culebra Island. A truly hidden paradise. A ferry takes you there, but, on a cruise never enough time to do that.

I will try to get as much snorkeling done as possible, I want to introduce Karl to the beauty of it.
