Nice pictures of the deluxe!  From what I can tell the room sizes vary depending on the ship.  The room difference from an AA to the deluxe is about 100 sq ft, but the balcony is significantly larger in the deluxe.  I hear the deluxe cabin with the hot tub calling my name.

After viewing the incredible Gem pictures, we have just sent our travel agent (who works very late hours at home) the approval to upgrade our suite to the Deluxe Owner's for both legs. The view reminds me of the Garden Villa view (but without the space) and I want that hot tub!!  The drop in pricing is too good to pass up.

The prices are tempting for all the Penthouses. Had I not been able to book an aft BA for $549 I would grab one. It will be interesting to see in fact what if any perks I get as a Platinum Latidudes member not in a penthouse. It will be a first for me. This needs to be a bargain cruise for me.

Who knows if they drop last minute I might still grab something as I did for my Gem cruise Monday.

I got my flight info today for this cruise. If I hand picked the flights I wanted they would have been the same. In fact I did pick this flights and the price was over $1600

So for 1/3 the price with transfers I am departing EWR at 7:10 pm on the 30th NONSTOP on Continental to BCN arriving 9 am.  2 pm home from Boston. Who said cruise air was always ugly

We had the Courtyard on the Pearl thru the Panama.  The accomodations and service were excellent.

Enjoy.

NCL must be hopping with another price decrease today.  We just got the deluxe for the 2nd leg  but the rooms were gone for the first leg.  No wait listing for this category our TA was told, so I will watch the boards in case someone was holding the room (which they can do) for 24 hours and it comes available.

Shoreguy, you got your flight for just over $500?

Yes I did $527 from EWR when I booked with two nights hotel. A week later no air from EWR.  Including the transfers I could not have done  much better even if I booked round trip to Boston and one way on Aer Lingus connecting service to Barecelona. Turning an 8 hour flight into an 16 hour journey.

I am just so happy to have the nonstop flight No worries about connections or long layover in the middle of Europe

We have been dealt a setback.  Our TA has been trying to find out why NCL will not allow us to upgrade for the price difference.  According to NCL we have to do both legs (which we can't since there are no rooms on the first left according to them), however they will allow us to cancel for $450 pp and rebook.  What!  Why would I do that if the upgrade was originally $600 pp?  What a mess.

That stinks but if the front end A2 opens you should be able to do it.

Since they have been selling the b2b a a single cruise you most likely have a special fare. They can't cancel one part of a single cruise easily. If you book a five day and a 9 day on the pearl the fare and booking are different then if you book a 14 day.

This is not the same as "fixing" the fare on the same booking if the price dropped or you wanted to upgrade when new lower prices appeared after final. There is as I see it no new lower fare for the A2 on the 21 day cruise that you boked. If you had two bookings one for each then They could do what you want easily. Good luck

I checked out invoices from our TA and it is the same booking number for both sailings.  I assumed they would be separate as this is how I found them initially on the internet.  However, we paid the final payment as 2 separate payments as they came due.  Does this mean it was 2 cruises and not booked as one?

What are you doing posting the link to  Andreas's pictures on the darkside.  Used to be the first place they were posted and now never until someone else takes the link from all the other sites.

Hi All,

We will be joining everyone for this trip.  Better late than never on the post, I guess, as we booked this back in June.:lurker

This will be our second TA, we did the Jewel in 2005.

Sellie,

We posted to the roll call on the darkside as well, but just in case, please sign us up for the Meet & Greet on the 3rd & 4th.

Welcome aboard - I am just back from 11 wonderful days on the Gem and she is in fact a Gem. I am locking forward to aall the days onbaord to really take advantage of the ship after a very port intensive cruise .

I was on the Jewel TA in 2005 and it remains my favorite cruise - I loved the days in Ireland and Iceland.

Look on the main NCL board here - I posted a live blog. It is a sticky. If you have other questions ask away.
