Your Right, I could not keep the balcony upgrade a secet, but my Mom was so thrilled it was worth sharing.

On a March 2002 I received an upsell for a suite on from a balcony cabin and was able to keep it a secret from my Mom for almost two months, up until we boarded!  We had an aft suite on the Dawn and it was wonderful!  keeping it a secret was really hard, I told my brother and he almost spilled the beans.   But to see her face when we got to the cabin worth it!;)

We can't wait fo the sailing date now.   A friend lives outside Boston and I am trying to convince her to join us, but she has school age kids and does not want to leave them alone.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on board.

Well I am looking forward to Barcelona even more. My sister just got back yesterday. Some kind of festival all week. She said it was a combination of Mardi Gras, Times Square, and the 4th of July.

Looks like that might have been La Merce' (24 Sept). One tour book says there's a parade of fire-breathing dragons, giants and monsters. Another says, "On 24 September, La Merce', the main festival of the city's calendar, gegants, giant papier-mache' figures in briliant colours are marched through the city to the Placa de San Jaume."

They had dragon parades for the kids and crazy fireworks parades for the late night crowd.

CRUISE FASHION FOR MEN -- What are you guys planning to pack/wear? Dad's only other cruise was on Princess where we "dressed" for dinner each night and he rented a tux. I told him I'd ask you guys how you pack. I know how I dress my man :P, but I thought I'd better ask for some other opinions for a change.

His choice - Dressed for dinner on NCL is a nice pair of slacks and a collared shirt. I normally bring one Blazer and a tie if I feel like gressing up. I have let the Tux collect dust for years. Each year it gets a bit more casual. Dress up if you like it or not.

Formal night on the Jewel TA and some of the group -

Becky, we agree with Jim. Dave, on the Pearl through the Panama, wore nice pants and a collared shirt. No jacket and no tux. I asked if he wanted a tux or suit on this cruise and he said no.

Thanks, Jim & Sharon! Dad -- in his daily call :P (we should cruise more often, then maybe he'd call me more...:shoot me:) -- said that he was going to pack a suit, to which I replied, "What for?!?" His SO Margaret last cruised so long ago that everyone dressed to the nines, every night. They're having a really hard time wrapping their heads around Freestyle. Jim, your pics will be a BIG help, as they demonstrate just about every mode of dress imagineable, all seated at the same table! :big grin:

Excellent - Your shoes will enjoy having a room to themselves. I thought about upgrading a few times but decided to keep this cruise on the cheep.

What ever you decide stay away from Lulley - far to angry for me.

I will say they gave those in the Owners Suites a mid ship inside to sleep in on the Pearl TA. They keep getting thrown out of their beds in the storms.

I am very confused.  I am on the other board checking info for this section of our cruise and it appears some of the Same people are on this one.  Is the meet and greet day/location still the same - Dec 4th?

Tried to get an upsell to a deluxe owner's but NCL wouldn't do it.  Said they couldn't but we could pay the upgrade price.  Still watching the prices on Garden Villas dropping - might pick one up anyway if the price is right - although seems a waste for 2 people.

We are all confused. Yes we will have one combined meet and greet on the 4th. In fact all of the people here are on the darkside rollcall as well. Many using different names since the mass bannings over there. Many of us can no longer post on the darkside

I tell you...the Garden Villa is too big for 2, it is no fun! The Deluxe Owner's Suites are pefect for 1 person, but not for 2...they are incredible small! Why don't you try to get a Courtyard A3 Villa or Deluxe AB Penthouse there you have enough space, basically a 3 room Suite! Owner's Suites are not bad either, but it depends to the weather...if we have high swells, those rooms become a Carnival ride, since they are right on the bow.

Marcus, what's the difference between an Owner's Suite and a Deluxe Owner's Suite, besides location?

We were in a Deluxe Owner's Suite on our Alaska cruise via a nice upsell.  We had plenty of room for DH and myself.  The private balcony with hot tub is very nice!

Wow, thanks for the ~great~ pics!

While it did appear smaller than the AA, I'd be hard pressed to decide between the two. I might sacrifice the two balconies in favor of a private hot tub, tho... That, and being able to gaze down upon "the minions"... :lmao1:

But you can most propably not open your Balcony Doors on the Transatlantic in the Deluxe Owners or the forward door at the Owners Suite, because it will be too cold & windy. The storrage space is not good in the Deluxe and it's basically just a bigger room in a prime location. It is great for Caribbean cruises! It would be too small for me for a longer cruise with my partner!
