Oh, Sellie, Sharon and I sure hope you get it.  We surely bought into a sweet deal with our balcony suite.:bouncy:

I guess I am really going. Just made final payment. Cash out of pocket for the cruise, air, and hotel just the $400 deposit.  I have this rewards card from work and NCL takes it for payment all I had to do was pay the taxes on the value of the rewards as income.

Shore excursions on this cruise should be a bargain as well :roflmao:

Dave,

I think those are decent hotel choices -- both seem to get good reviews.  The SOHO is probably a better location for walking and sightseeing.  The Grand Marina looks a bit nicer, not sure how much more expensive you're seeing it -- and though this hotel is at the port, from what I've seen the Gem will be docking quite a bit further away.  As far as noise, this is a subjective area, but again scan the reviews out there and, if quieter is a high priority for you, the Grand Marina is away from the main street and may work out well.

Cheers, Ari

FYI:

There will be three ships in port at Barcelona on the 3rd -- the Gem, Celebrity Century, and (my next home! :big grin:) ResidenSea's The World.

RCCL's Splendour of the Seas will be at the port of Funchal on 12/6 along with the Gem.

Another day closer to cruise time.  Can't say I am none too excited!  :banana:The sea days will give us a chance to do some serious bowling.

Two day stay in Barcelona is the plan.

We're in!!! Becky, father Ray, and Ray's SO Margaret.

Not quite in steerage this time -- above the waterline with a window. ;) But with Jim's history for transatlantics (tongue thoroughly planted in cheek, Jim! :big grin: ), I'm thinking this'll probably be a rocky ride and I want to be low and midship!!!

With Dad's credit card in hand , I booked two adjoining oceanview cabins for him and his SO. He'll be surprised; I hope it'll be a good surprise! It's not costing them a penny more, and I think they'll be thankful for the space. For me I booked an OV just down the hall. My TA is still working on getting us closer together; he thinks somebody's got a non-paying hold on the cabins I want. He's also going to keep an eye out for upsells.

I've still got four other couples from here looking at this sailing, too. I hope they don't wait too long! The balcony Dad wanted got away while we were still talking yesterday. <tttppphhhttt>

Now to pin down the air arrangements and hotel...

I hope you are correct on the weather outlook.  Living in Minnesota we have learned take the reports with a grain of salt.  We can have drastic unpredictable changes within hours.

Hi all,

My Mom (Arlene) and I (Jordana) have just booked this exciting transatlantic voyage.  Shoreguy sent me the link to this site and now I have two sites to check daily:(

We are really looking forward to the cruise and meeting everyone on board.

So far I have not seem any mention of the one and only stop on this voyage and decieded to do a little googling.  I looked up Funchal and found a lot of information.  Check out the link

http://www.lido-tours.com about a tour company in Madeira, they will pick you up and drop you off at the ship.  It looks like it is worth looking into.

Hope the next two months go by fast and before you know it we will be on the GEM!

Welcome aboard and welcome to CTT. This will be a lot different the Jewel TA and I hope very different in some ways then the Pearl as well. We would have loved one port day on the Pearl after the first few days

Looking forward to seeing you both again

Jim

Can you believe this? NONE of the A3s (8) or ABs (10) are booked! I wouldn't mind trading our three DDs for one of those... :rockon:Wishful thinking!!!

Exactly the same thing happened on the Oct 8th Gem. In fact two weeks before final only one AA AB and A3 were booked. The good news they ended up dropping the AAs to 3400pp from a high of $9200pp. A3 dropped $3000 pp. I upgraded to an AB after final when the price dropped $3000 pp :big grin:  Everything sold out in 2 weeks.

Just doing the rounds on prices this morning not sure when they dropped but the suite prices seem much lower than last time I looked.
For this trip
AB $1700 £1550 at BPC.
A3 $3kpp, $2.5k at BPC.
GV $8k £6.7k at BPC

With the 3-8 pax at $229 the pp rates for these multiroom cabins is good if you can fill them.(+$64pp tax)

I also noticed they dropped the price on the OV and I am miffed!.   We booked last week and paid the higher rate and paid in full.   I noticed this last night and called but could not get anywhere.   The customer service rep, who was very nice, checked with her supervisor but was told they could not do anything because "revenue" was closed for the day.   I asked for on board credit for the difference and she said that her supervisor would check with revenue in the morning and let me know.

I told her if they could not get me the on board credit, maybe they could offer me a balcony :P.    Hopefully I will get happy news today.   It is not a big price diff,, but it is a few drinks worth.

After final it is a day to day roll of the dice - I was able to take advantage of every price drop on this cruise and the Oct8th cruise even those that were labeled "new bookings" As my PCC said after final all bets are off except one thing. If the price drops for a higher level cabin and you want to give them more money and upgrade you can get the new post final lower price.

That said if you paided $449 for the oceanview an extra $50 would put you in a balcony - pretty sweet deal.

NCL ROCKS!!.   II just got off the phone and they have moved us from the G to a BC for the same price.   I am so thrilled, I wonder if I can keep it a secret from my Mom (shhhh no on tell).   Now let us pray for the AF.

I also see that they dropped the price on OVs, from $449pp to $399.

Perfect :bouncy: I think you will have a hard time keeping the secret. You will want her to share in your joy.

Have to agree keeping an upgrade secret would be tough.

Now what am I doing wrong I don't see these lower prices on all grades yet?

THe last upsell price to balcony I got from BPC was around $400 so need  another drop.
