We just got upgraded from inside aft cabin on 8 to balcony just aft of midships on 9.  Hope that doesn't add enough additional motion that my wife gets seasick.  Could be neat sitting on balcony in state 4 sea!

You are right about wind and swells.  I was DCA on tin can out of Subic in '72.  Invited some DC types from Hornet to conduct drills and observe for Battle E grades.  They were so sick after a day bouncing in state 2 sea that we passed easily! :)    Doesn't take much wave motion to get carrier personnel sick (of course, we displaced 3000 tons, not 100000!)

See many of you onboard or in Barcelona this weekend!  Leaving in 2 hrs.

Like the old links the Hi Res keeps locking up every 8 to 10 seconds for about 5 seconds.

I ended up viewing .mov version

I guess you have to wait until the whole stream is on your hard disk and then start

watching.

here are some wmv links:

low quality (CBR):

mms://video.sellie.de/GEMTA2007.wmv

VBR:

keep the website open and wait a couple of minutes

then the whole stream is buffered on your harddisk

No need I saved the .mov version( all 4 GB) on my hard drive :nono: :roflmao:

VBR is now buffering on Media Player - last time I opened it it was Flash with no view of the buffer.

I just finished watching the low bandwidth.  Recalled all the wonderful times cruising with you two and all the others.  I sure hope we can do it again.

PERFECT!

Thank you for all your time and effort on this.

Danke

Thanks for the information.

I still try to figure out which is the best way to offer hiqh quality video streaming with low bandwidth. I guess Variable Bit Rate (VBR) is not the solution! I have a 18MBit DSL connection at home so every version works fine for me with no buffering. That's why I need your information. For watching high quality video you need at least a 1MBit DSL connection.

As you wrote downloading the video and watching it offline is always a good idea.

To download the wmv files simply use "http:" instead of "mms:"

http://video.sellie.de/GEMTA2007.wmv

http://video.sellie.de/GEMTA2007HQ.wmv

to get the flash files just download the FLV files like

http://video.sellie.de/GEMTA2007.flv

or

http://video.sellie.de/GEMTA2007HQ.flv

I have cable modem. Just ran Speed Test and getting 9.6 MB download. That said I just closed Media player and in over an hour I had only buffered 64% of the video.

Low speed works great and may be best for your server and bandwidth as well.

Very interesting!

Maybe it is because my server is located in Germany.

How long do you need for a "regular" download from my server?

Usually no problem. The .mov version took a few minutes to fully buffer.. In fact started playing with almost no delay and no issues. I had no problem in the past with the Pearl feature lenght film or the Gem undocking
