Well I am home posting this - not on my laptop in Kentucky via Indiana. I arrived at the airport at 10am for a flight at noon. Noon came and went. The plane was at the gate but there was a "problem" and the pilot called for a mechanic. Not one time was an announcement made for re-booking missed connections - but not to worry - I had a 2 hour layover in Atlanta. Or so I thought. Finally at 2:00 I started to figure out that I would miss my connection - so I went to the desk and stood in line like a good little traveler. When it was my turn I was informed that the flights to my destination would not leave until 6 tonight arriving at 10pm central (11 eastern) and oh by the way - they are sold out - can you take a flight in the morning (7am)? Yes? would you like us to pull your bags? OK - just go to baggage claim and pick it up. I waited an hour and 1/2 in baggage claim - now its 3:30. The lady said they were on the ramp - not to worry. Oh wait!! OMG - the bags didn't get pulled and are on their way to Atlanta!! Don't worry - your bag will arrive in Indiana tonight.......
I love my job, I love job, I love my job

Kathy, I'm sorry you had this hassle! Air travel is definitely becoming less attractive for the flying public, by the day!
Hubby had a similar experience recently. He arrived at the airport at noon for a 2:30 flight, which was cancelled. He was wait-listed on the other two flights of the day, both of which were delayed. He finally left the airport at about midnight, got home around 1 and flopped into bed, only to be picked up at 6:30 a.m. for his rescheduled flight at 9 a.m. 21 hours after he first arrived at the airport he finally departed. Sounds an awful lot like what you experienced today and will finally complete tomorrow.

| What airline was that? I can't believe they didn't have enough sense to announce anything for people like you who needed to make connections. Crazy!

Does anyone remember when it was fun and exciting to fly? Ok, now I sound like I'm a hundred years old.

That first flight was exciting for me. So were the next few because I rarely took an airplane to my destination. I remember when everyone dressed up to fly. (I saw pictures.)
