Hi everyone. Can anyone recommend a good hotel in San Juan? I didn't want to book one with RCL, we will be arriving one day early for our cruise 3/22/09. Does anyone have any suggestions for 2 adults and 2 kids?

Thanks

We stayed at the Courtyard San Juan Miramar. It was about a 15 minute ride from the airport and about 10 minutes to the pier. We got a pretty good price (all hotels in San Juan seem to be on the pricier side) and the hotel itself was clean and neat. The staff was excellent. In the morning, they had an employee in the lobby helping the cruising passengers staple their luggage tags on.

Whoops....should note that those times were for the Carnival Destiny (Pier 4). I don't know for sure how long it would take to get to the pier for AOS.

Sheraton Old San Juan.  It's right across from the OSJ pier, so it'd be a little ride over to AOS, but it's a great location.  We stayed there in November and didn't have any complaints.

I stayed at the Marriott Condado - very nice. It's half way between the airport and the port. My kids stayed at the Hilton. They loved it!

we stayed @ condado plaza in condado. http://www.condadoplaza.com/?src=ppc_yahoo_brand1&clicksource=standard&s_kwcid=TC-1282-119197270022-S-1327785022

it is pretty close to old san juan (but not walking distance).  it was nice, but we found ourselves spending more time in isla verde than in condado or old san juan.

we spent a lot of time here:

http://www.elsanjuanhotel.com/

and were wishing we had known about this resort when we booked.  it is very nice. and we wld have stayed here in a heartbeat.

if you look at the photo tour of el san juan you will see a "gate" to the beach...

you can only use the beach if you are a resort guest...all of the beaches along that stretch, actually.  they have security guards who ask to see your room key.  if being on a nice beach is impt to you, that alone may be a reason to book here.  condado had many nice pools, but their beach area was small and dumpy.

oh yeah...

el san juan is right next door to the ritz carlton, (where we also spent time).

the ritz carlton was also very nice, but esj is a good competitor, no doubt.  i might have liked esj better, in fact.

I stayed at the radisson last september.  I forget which little burb its in, but it was a nice, trendy neighborhood.  Decent hotel. Casino in the first floor with free drinks...about a 10 minute cab ride to the port.  5 min cab ride to OSJ.

Got it for about 75$ on skyauction!

Nice price Doc!  We had a great time staying in Old San Juan as the music fest was that weekend!

I've never used it myself, but haven't looked at it either so it might get you some good deals.

Oh no, I was amazed at the hotel you found for $75.

I booked the Embassy for $300.  :shock:DH is afraid if we don't book now, prices will go up. The breakfast and drinks makes it a little better. I'll still keep looking though, I can always cancel it.    :(

skyauction.com...click on destinations, caribbean, then hotels...lots of deals to be had there.  I have discovered some great little caribbean resorts on that site.  Got 10 days in Antigua for about $90 per night for accomondations!!
