Hey guys. We left at 10 AM, stopped 2x to eat and once to fill up. We got to the hotel around 6. Getting ready to meet up with an old friend of Victoria's for dinner, followed by an evening out. It's drizzling but it's not that bad.

woo hoo erby!     have a great time!

and, i'm jealous.  when we had to drive to fla last year to make our cruise b/c of the valentine's day storms that crippled the airline system for days, it took us over 20+ hours and 2 days to get there.

you booked, sista.  you hardly missed a beat! have a wonderful time, and do not forget about expedition everest.:big grin:

Their reasoning for Chapter 11 doesn't make it sound too promising.

Credit card companies are holding back funds.  Apparently they're not too confident in Frontier's future.  It'll probably be a self-fulfilling prophesy, and then the credit card companies will be patting themselves on the back saying "I told you so".

Apparently it's not a good day at Continental, either. Hubby just arrived at Newark for a 2:15 flight, only to find out it's cancelled. We don't have bad weather, so I don't know what's up yet.

Oh, wait! I may have just figured it out. Hubby is flying to St. Louis -- isn't there a bad line of storms between here and there? Maybe that's why the flight was cancelled. He's been put on standby for a 4:30 flight, and there's one more today after that. Thing is, if he can't be in St. Louis by tomorrow morning, he might as well not go since tomorrow a.m. is the primary meeting he was going for. Looks to me like I'd better take a nap, as I may be driving to Newark to pick him up later. :(

Continental cancelled the 2:30 flight and put him onto standby for the only other two flights that day. When he didn't make it onto the last one he called his driver, who sent someone to take him to the Wyndham to see if they could get him in for the night; everything was booked solid. They sat at the bar for an hour waiting to see if there was a no-show by the midnight deadline. While they waited the asst. mgr. treated him to a few Guinness. :drink:(It's good to know a driver with pull! :big grin: ) The other driver brought him home, where he fell into bed at 1:15. His driver then picked him up at 6:30 for a 9:00 flight, which came off without a hitch.

WHAT AN ORDEAL. But he's ~really~ enjoying himself at the conference, like a kid in a candy store.

I went to my bank Friday and filled out the paperwork to get my refund from Skybus - I booked a total of 3 tickets and am owed about $150 - not  a whole lot but I'm hoping to get it back.  My boss knows of several people who have already received refunds from their cancelled Skybus flights.

And the beat goes on..

St. Louis — Travelers flying out of St. Louis are in for more headaches.

The regional carrier Trans States Airlines canceled about a dozen flights Tuesday and says as many as 40 flights faced cancellation today.

The airline that operates American Connection, United Express and US Airways out of Lambert Airport says it must conduct federally-mandated inspections of its planes.

Twenty-four of the airline’s 50 planes must be inspected for electrical equipment which controls the steering on the nose wheel.

The airline was taking steps to work with those whose flights were called off

I'm boarding AirCanada in 5 days... guess it's time to check the bankruptcy sections to see if they're still in the air
and the engine recalls
and the electrical recalls
and the oil barrel quotes
check the safety on the holster and make sure the lock is working
weigh the suitcases
take all the liquid lunches out of the carry ons
pack sandwiches, nuts, candy, snacks
put on my anti embolic stockings
and take out a bank loan to pay for extra surcharge.

FORT WORTH, Texas (Reuters) - American Airlines said on Wednesday it plans to cut domestic capacity by 11 percent to 12 percent this year as fuel prices reach record highs and the weak U.S. economy casts a shadow over the summer travel season  the Fort Worth, Texas-based airline will also begin charging $15 for passengers' first checked bag, the first of any network carrier to do so. AMR said it plans to retire at least 75 mainline and regional planes, including many of its MD-80s and some Airbus A300 planes

I guess my response to this belongs on the other thread.  :flamin:  They're all adding so many hidden charges now.  As much as I hate government regulation, maybe it's time they started regulating the ^&*%&* airlines again.  :flamin:

I agree,  but I think we might as well get used to it because its starting to show up every where.  I saw an interview with the CEO of Carnival and they are feeling it in fuel, food, transfers, and airline fares ..... how long before they funnel it down stream is just a matter of time !  I know NCL has started taking the nickel and dime approach :flamin:

Not only is it costing more to fly, now you'll have a hard time getting a flight.
