We have 2 cruises booked for next year - NCL Pearl out of Miami in March and NCL Jewel from London next June.  I've been checking airfares daily for months and they are ridiculously high - I'm beginning to wonder if they are ever going to go down!

Right now Dayton/Cincinnati to Ft. Lauderdale/Miami on our dates is over $500/pp.  We are used to going for less than $200/pp but I think I'd jump if I even saw $300 at this point.

For the London trip rates are $1100+ per person.  When I've looked in the past I've seen rates from $500-700/pp.

Am I panicking too soon?  Any suggestions on what I can expect with these airfares?  I check Kayak, Travelocity, Sidestep and many other travel sites.

This site might help for your international flight: http://www.bt-store.com/. I used this site on the recommendation of another CTT member and was able to save significantly on my one-way to Barcelona.

You might want to look at some other airports.   I have one 45 minutes from here, one 1 1/2 hours from here, and four that are four hours from here.   Sometimes one and sometimes another has the good fares.   I've flown out of four of those airports.   I'll drive four hours to save $300 to $400 PP.

What about Louisville, Lexington, or Columbus?

That is spring break time and Easter falls on March 23rd this year, so I think that's

why the rates are abyssmal.  I got our tickets from CA to Ft. Lauderdale 6 weeks

ago for a 4/4/08 cruise out of Ft. Laud, and we paid $340 pp and then right

after they increased to $390 pp and now, just six weeks later, they're at

$490 pp.

Thanks for the tip, Becky!  I will need to be checking one-way airfare from London-Raleigh next year after our Trans-Atlantic crossing on the QE 2.

Be very careful, just looked at the site and put in for Funchal........cheap fares but ALL required an overnight in Europe and flying from a different gateway then the one you landed in:shock: Could become pretty pricey in the long run.

I just checked it out and it says they only give discounts to flights FROM the US.  I need a flight from London back to the US.

I'd try Aer Lingus via Dublin, then.

Beware that you'll be caught up in the EU's draconian luggage restrictions.

Mine was from the US. They are probably a "bucket shop" consolidator.

Yeah, I know........:shoot me:  That's the only drawback.  And that's precisely the reason we haven't planned another vacation to London last year.

Scrappy

How are you getting to Santiago?  If you are doing a SA cruise you can find flights from whereever you are to say Rio and then from Santiago back?  We got our round trip with a sidetrip to Peru for about 1400 pp round trip.
