1. Sign in with your CTT user name so you can be identified to ALL members
2. If you are going to be gone from the keyboard for an extended amount of time, please sign OUT of the chatroom for that time

Rules are seldom ever made (at least here at CTT) for no reason.... if you have issues with using your CTT screen name in chat or need further clarification as to why this has become an "issue" please PM me and I would be happy to discuss!!

The chat room is a separate add-on from the board. We are however working on setting up something that will require your screen name to access chat.

I'm fairly new to this discussion, but last night when Amy and I were in chat, there were several lurkers who were there the entire time. They were probably leftover NCL people who had forgotten to sign out or something, but it was a little disconcerting. There were a couple of people who came in, and then just lurked. One of them appeared to be a soiled hand puppet or something like that.
It's hard to gossip and dish on someone if there's the possibility of their being there lurking under another name. It's bad enough when you're having a "candid" conversation and that person suddenly shows up. Paranoia runs deep.... into your heart it will creep.... stop, hey, what's that sound....
My interpretation, and please let me know if I'm off-base, is that we don't have to sign in purely as our official CTT s/n.... in my case it's WeBeCruisin', but can sign in as our more-recognizable name.... Allen in my case, and that it's probably okay to use a fake name, if it's one which will be obvious to most of the people there and is clearly intended to be humorous... maybe something like "Geriatric Gigolo" in GG's case. Last night I was "Jeff'sFantasy", and only Pamela was confused. She thought I was Jeff himself, bless her heart. And I don't think any of us are capable of just lurking without feeling the need to contribute our two cents' worth.
I have to admit I've tried to use "mystery" names in the past, but by the time I've said two sentences, everyone is going "Hi. Allen".

Allen.... I think at this point we ALL need to use our "official" CTT screen names... CTT has grown big enough that there's no way that everyone will be familiar with everyone's first names.
If we have a need (and we do) to check persons logged into chat against the CTT membership list - then the only way to do that is by official CTT screen name.
That's my thought...
