Oh yeah... she probably will a few more times, LOL.  She's a freaking maniac and can't make her mind up...

Denise, things still looking good for Sunday unless she slows down... Accuweather has winds dying down to below 20 by 5pm Saturday... and rain out by 2pm, so all should be good.  I'll stay in touch and keep you posted!!!

Let me rephrase that slightly.  I guess I'm glad I'm not sailing on the cruise LEAVING this Sunday.  Not only does the weather look a bit suspicious for the cruise, but I wouldn't want to be flying into NYC on Sunday night, either....

Please get these things out of here before 9/21!  Otherwise, I'll be calling for help as to what to do.....:help:

When we did the Repo on the Spirit last Fall, we had a storm very much with the timing of Hanna.   The ship came in early to NY, the storm went by, and we sailed out on its coat tail.

It was rocky for a few hours but then like many storms, the seas turned to glass.

Good to hear!  Out of curiosity, did you mean your ship left early, or that the previous sailing arrived early and waited for the storm to pass before sailing out?

The previous sailing came in early the evening before.   We left right on time after a rainy, windy day.

By looking at the map, I'm also guessing there may not be a night race in Richmond tomorrow night.

The latest from Raleigh news:

Raleigh, N.C. — Tropical Storm Hanna has shifted west and could bring rain and strong winds as far as the Triad, Gov. Mike Easley said Friday.

The storm could make landfall somewhere between Myrtle Beach and Charleston, S.C., and travel along Interstate 95 through North Carolina.

The eye of the storm probably won't hit North Carolina until after midnight, but residents could see rain by dinnertime.

Hanna also is expected to bring more rain than anticipated before, Easley said, and state officials are preparing for major flooding, especially in the Neuse and Tar rivers.

The storm could produce rainfall accumulations of 3 to 7 inches from coastal South Carolina northward through North Carolina into central Virgina, Maryland and southeastern Pennsylvania.

Isolated maximum amounts of 10 inches are possible.

Isolated tornadoes are possible Friday night over the coastal areas of South and North Carolina.

"This is not just going to be a coastal issue," Easley said. "The wind and rain are going to be far spread."

Some Southeastern states, including North Carolina, declared emergencies Thursday, and officials urged residents to head inland.

About 40 North Carolina counties are under severe weather watches or warnings, and about 15 closings and delays are reported.

Forecasters expected Hanna to strengthen slightly before making landfall early Saturday.

As of noon Friday, the National Weather Service says the storm had maximum sustained winds at 65 mph, was centered about 375 miles south-southwest of Wilmington and was moving northwest at about 20 mph.

"The storm is moving fast now," said WRAL Meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner. "Twenty miles per hour – that is fast for a tropical storm."

I'll be damn.   Hanna has recently made a hard right and is moving NE away from Florida.   They are still saying it will turn NW again and go into NC but this jog may change the tract again a bit and also change the timing a bit.

I guest we need to wait for the 5:00 update.

Get your sailboat and stay on the south side of the eye and you can be in Ireland on Wednesday.

It's raining in Richmond now.   100 % chance tonight and tomorrow with two or more inches of rain.   30 % chance tomorrow night with rains early, clearing later.

Winds tomorrow 25 to 35 and 15 to 25 tomorrow night.

Likely no Nationwide tonight and if I was in charge, I would postpone the race tomorrow.   Even if they get it dry, a race in those winds on a track washed clean of all rubber could be dangerous.

Well, so far, it sucks! LOL!  We've got 24 more hours of this crap and it hasn't even hit land yet.  This is going to be a mess.  Oh yeah, Denise... Raleigh (and at least Jacksonville, but I'm guessing the entire eastern portion of NC) is out of regular gas and will probably be out of premium by tomorrow... so fill up before you make it to NC...

NASCAR must read this board and listened.   Here is their release.

RICHMOND, Va. -- Fearing for the safety of more than 100,000 fans expected to attend Saturday's Chevy Rock & Roll 400 at Richmond International Raceway, NASCAR officials elected Friday evening to postpone the start of the race until 1 p.m. Sunday on ESPN after rain from Tropical Storm Hanna threatened to swamp the track.

Spinoff rain from Hanna struck RIR Friday afternoon at about 4:15 p.m. ET, wiping out all hope NASCAR officials had of not only the remainder of scheduled activities for not only that evening, but all day Saturday as well.

Qualifying for the Nationwide Series' Emerson Radio 250 was cancelled at about 4:46, with the 43-car lineup being set per the rulebook, with the top-30 starters lining up in order of owner points. Qualifying for the Cup race also eventually was washed out, and the same scenario was used to set the starting field.

The Nationwide event will now be run at 7 p.m. Sunday on ESPN2, after conclusion of the Cup race and after the grandstands have been cleared.

Boy, am I glad you told me!!!!!  The Hummer uses regular gas, so that's really good to know. We usually fill up just south of the SC/NC border, where the gas is cheaper than in NC.

I wonder if regular in SC will be hard to find, too.

Well, we got our first band of rain come through this morning, and Hanna is still in Dixieland.  First rain I can remember in many many weeks.

The air is like soup outside, and with the air left on overnight, there's not one window in the house I can see out of.

raleigh has some significant flooding.  someone was rescued from their car already (what they were doing out in this to begin with is questionable).

stay safe chris, and the rest of you down there!  they say you will have a beautiful day this afternoon!

we started to get some heavy rain overnight, and have more here now, as i type this.

it doesn't take much for my street to flood (we do not have a sewer system where i live.  we have small cesspool type catch basins buried underground, and we only have 2 for the entire street.  unfortunately, me and my neighbor across the street are at the bottom of the incline (from both directions), so we get everyone else's runoff in addition to our own runoff.

this wld be okay IF the water emptied into a sewer and was carried away.  since it is not, the basins get filled quickly, and get backed up causing flooding.:shoot me: it takes some time for the water to recede, so even without considering the wind factor, any steady hanna rain will definitey be causing us issues here today.:(

Charlotte and Concord basically have nothing. The west side edge of the outer band hit the very tip corner of the county. We were about 20 miles from the rain. Glad this one missed us. The announced this morning our federal and state disaster relief office is opening today from last weeks flooding from Fay. All told, our flood damage hit several millions (they may have actually said billion). We have many road and bridges that are damaged or destroyed.

Trish, hope things don't get too bad for you there.

Steph, glad you and yours are okay. Amazing how these storms can rack up the big bucks in damage in one way or another.
