This is all I have with nothing to confirm.

NBC News correspondent Mark Potter reported that the punishing winds and rain water has topped the west side of the Industrial Canal.    The canal barrier, located in the Upper Ninth Ward, had not yet been raised by the Corps of Engineers as part of its long-term levee improvement program.barrier in New Orleans.

I was just watching video of it on Fox News.  Not a big deal yet with some waves lapping over the top

Mississippi report.   Storm surge is at its peak now of 8 to 9 feet.   Hwy 90 from Biloxi west is under water in many places and closed.   I-59 at the LA line is closed.   Some structual damage has been reported

to add a little levity to the hurricane worries, i desperately tried to find the old weather channel commercial with the warm front guy and the cold front guy (their faces painted, respectively), sitting at the bar, watching the tv (like a football game, except it was twc, of course), cheering for their teams (the warm front vs. cold front), lol.

it was such a GREAT commercial for us weather geeks (yes, me...i loved it!).

i thought of it this a.m. when i was reading SG's and RnE's posts.  they ARE our warm front/cold front guys!!!

i really wanted to post this commercial for them to see!

if anyone has luck finding it, please post it.

thanks.

If you live or plan to travel within the block of just south of I-20 north to the OK/TX line, and from Dallas east to almost Little Rock, be prepared for major rains and flooding from late tomorrow until the end of the week.

After Gustav enters Texas, it will turn north, slow down, and just slowly drift north.   They are saying some in this area may see up to 20 inches of rain over these days.

There may end up more damage from floods in that area than what is being seen from landfall.

yes! thanks, becky.

a variation of this aired in my area.  they were seated at the bar, not a table, and the commercial immediately began with them cheering, it was so funny.  but, yes.  it was part of this ad campaign. i think it is hysterical.

thanks for finding this!

BTW, my name is Jim too.    So you're talking the Jim & Jim show.

But don't forget Dave who seems to have some great resources to share.

Thanks to Gustav, we have some pretty good chances of rain in the next 3 days, especially Wednesday and Thursday.

Same here but ours starts with 30 % this afternoon, 70 % tonight, 80 % tomorrow, and so on.

EDIT:   Now we have Gustav meets cold front tomorrow.   100 % chance of rain, T-Storms and possible tornadoes.

At least the 90's we've had the past few days are gone.   83 today and lower 70's for the next few days.

As long as I don't have to be tornado guy tomorrow.:nono::big grin:

Gustav's outer edge of rain is 30 miles to our south and the cold front with T-Storms are not all that far west of Buffy.   Could get interesting tonight and tomorrow.

Sounds like our weather here.  Very warm and humid right now-supposed to cool way down with a cold front and rainstorms later today. . .could be rough. . .

The leading edge of Gustav has arrived in Branson.   Light rain falling.    Calling for one inch of rain tonight, two inches tomorrow, two more tomorrow night, more on Thursday before tapering off on Friday.   Total rain could be between 6 to 11 inches.

We've in very heavy bands of rain right now along with a tornado watch,   There is a tornado about 30 miles to our west.    The storms are moving east to west so that one is going away from us.

We still have several of the heavy bands to go in this round.

Still very heavy rains and we now have rotation (possible tornado) 15 miles to our SE heading NW.   That one is heading towards us.   I can see it on dopler radar and confirmed by fire department spotters.
