Not as bad as those heading south and finding themselves in Canada.

And for me, packing probably wouldn't really a lot different. Just make sure I've got some short sleeved shirts in with my luggage and I'd be just fine. I've always said I could spend 7 days going around in circles -- but I'm not particularly anxious to try.

Just about did that on the NCL Pearl. 9 days Southampton to Miami - no ports. We even went thru the 2 last named storms of the year. One of the best cruises I ever did.

Kinda keeping an eye on this one myself. DS is getting married on Thursday and is booked on Fantasy out of Mobile on Monday! May be a rough ride with some port changes to boot.???
CNBC just reported landfall is most likely at this time to be Mobile on Monday. :nina:

Looking at the latest National Hurricane Center map, it could be anywhere between Mobile & NOLA.
My guess based on current projections is that they hold the return of the prior cruise back until Tuesday.

If the NOAA map Dave put in the first post of this thread holds to be exact, it will go in around the LA/MS line. If it does, that could push a lot of water into the lake and test NO new levee system.
BTW, that NOAA map of Dave's stays updated.
As usual, Shoreguy beat me to it.

Living in Utah has it's disadvantages when it comes to cruising, but I think I'll happily pay the airfare rather than moving to the south and worrying about hurricanes on a yearly basis.

We very, very seldom get tornados either -- you have to get east of the Rockies before they're a big problem .

NOLA considering evacuation. Maybe this time some of those folks will get the heck out of Dodge before it's too late.

been following this thing for past few days on noaa.com. and was wondering if anyone was going to get serious about this damn storm. Like HELLLLLLLO... People pack the animals and kids and head to the hills for a little R&R.
You're making me nervous. GO INLAND.

Let's hope Gustav keeps slipping west and they can get a ship out of Mobile. Not sure where it would go with Hanna headed to the Bahamas on Monday and this storm in the western Gulf. I guess a bumpy ride to Jamaica is posible.
One thing is certain everything will change between now and Monday.

| 0330 is my usual awake time.... sigh.... I don't nap in day, and don't go to bed early, but still can't stop wakening at 0330. Very maddening, esp if you have a full day ahead. Even the dog has gone back to bed.

Now a Cat 3 with winds of 120 mph.
The west end of Cuba does not have the mountains like in the rest so it probably won't weaken this storm much, if any, as it passes over.
