Be careful!  Your part of the county is now under a tornado warning!  I see it on Channel 12 & it looks bad!
Get your hair cut another day!!!!!!!!!

It's worse here today than yesterday.......it's been pouring all day, although the wind isn't as bad.  I'm praying big time!!!!!! :praying:

I saw the tornado on my way home - it was to the East of my house aways - US1 I think. All flights in/out of JIA have been cancelled (at least by Delta) until noon tomorrow - so needless to say there is no need to stay at the airport tonight. I am glad because I was dreading the drive. It is much worse up north than it is here. We are actually in a state of calm right now. No wind - no rain. The butterflys came out to eat - which I took as a good sign.

I do look beautiful now......:eyeroll: I'm sorry I had you so worried!! :surrender: Your prayers kept me safe!!

I'm just glad you made it home safe you crazy woman!

 tornado on the ground - and water spout - possibly one and the same came up the St. Johns River. Less than a mile west of me. It is north of me now heading right toward NAS Jax. Whew. I'm about done with this.

Sorry Cappy - haven't heard a thing about Mt. Dora. Let me see if I can find out anything for ya.

I had to go look to see where Mt. Dora was. It is close to Jess (caliber1). They got a lot of rain - but according to Jess no serious weather or flooding. I think you can rest easy. My motto is - no news is good news. I freak out when I don't hear from DD - and she is so oblivious. I get the "geesh M-O-T-H-E-R" all the time.

The bay is calm, I can actually see the seawall and the sun was peeking out about 45 min ago.............Now, it is raining again.

Today will be spent cleaning up all the debris from the yard.....yesterday we drug about a dozen huge palm fronds out to the street for pick-up.  And they all fell into our yard from our neighbors palm trees.........:shoot me:

Tornadoes from tropical systems interacting over land are different than supercell spawned tornadoes frequently occurring in the Midwest.  Fortunately the former are often weak however they are harder to spot since they are often embedded in the heavier squalls.  A torrential downpour that results in parts of a roof removed could in fact be from one of these tornadoes.

Spouts are fascinating.  Back in 1990 I will never forget the story of a friend and his son that were fishing in the Chesapeake.  They (wisely) heeded the special marine warning issued by the NWS.  They made it back to the pier and were walking back to the dockhouse when something fell from the sky striking the pier and both of them were covered in something that smelled terrible.

Well what happened was a spout tangled with the shore, picked up a port-a-potty and dropped it right in front of them.  The smell was from...well you know! :vomit:

They both jumped in the water to escape the stench.  So yeah waterspouts while not as strong as a tornado most of the time can still pick up things - even a potty full of it! :big grin:

Here's one of Faye's tornadoes taken yesterday at 18:22 in Polk county.  Touchdown was near 3000 Camp Posalie Road near Kissimmee.  Four mobiles homes and a bridge were damaged according to the sheriff department who took this picture.

The eye is near Panama City, FL.   Still dropping lots of rain, some places over 4 inches an hour, but the wind is not as bad.   Gusts in the lower 40's.

BTW, Mike Siedal did move to Panama City.

Fay seems sad as she ends her week vacation in Florida.   She is now a depression with the low north of Mobile.   At around 6:00 EDT there was only one bit of rain in the state of Florida near Tallahassee.   Northern AL and much of MS are catching most of the rain.

Well he is almost 34 :shoot me: ... but things are fine just wet, and I was told for future reference that Mt. Dora is the highest land in Florida :dangit:

I do believe Fay is sending us a calling card.   We have a line of T-Storms going through.   They are moving SW and we never have storms moving that direction.   When I pull out long range with a map in motion, these storms are moving as an outer band to Fay.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised as Fay is still pulling T-Storms through Tampa and if you draw a line on a map from Tampa to Branson, you will find the low which is Fay in east Mississippi is exactly half way between the two.

I need to keep an eye on them as a couple of cells look like they may have some high tops and possibly something we don't like to see in these parts.

The remnants of Fay can be seen interacting with the ridge of the high pressure in the Ohio Valley on the extended 2kM radar here:

http://weather.cod.edu/loops/2km.bbloop.html

This being a wet system should produce instability thunderstorm activity into the middle of the week!

Pearl and I were going to have a visit Friday. We had a choice, go thru our mum's stuff or have a few martinis by her pool. We chose the later. Not having a pool, I really need to work on a tan... and want to save the pennies for shopping in Florida.... don't tell me we're going to be housebound in Toronto???? Please No MORE rain... we've had a ton this year!

Looking at the map of the storm track above it appears LA has installed storm barriers at the state line.
