Oh, goody..........:shoot me:

I'm afraid with the ground being so saturated with rain, that you will now see more and more big trees  falling down.......

I have not read this entire thread yet. I hope that everyone impacted is safe and sound.

We just got back from our cruise on the Miracle to San Juan (Sat), St. Thomas (Sun), and Grand Turk (Mon) and back up to NYC to debark today. I was keeping an eye on Fay all week but we had great weather at all ports and smooth sailing back to NYC. It seems as though we missed all the action by a day or two. My brother is currently in Orlando and has been getting rained on for the past 2+ days.

An alligator was seen swimming the streets in Melbourne!

I work around all sorts of machinery, high voltage and chase storms but I will NOT mess with gators!  F that!

Checking in. My power is still on (obviously) It has faded in and out since the last outage - but has held firm. My parents have been without power since 4:00 (1/2 hour after mine came back on) and it just came back on a minute ago. The funny thing is that she lives right around the corner and up the street from my DD - and DD never lost power.

The wind is still pretty strong - and the rain comes in bands. Right now it is blowing pretty hard - but then it will calm down somewhat. I saw all that rain out in the Atlantic and am not looking forward to it coming ashore.

Just wanted to let everyone know that all is well. I try not to keep the puter up too long. Will check back again when I can.

Thanks everyone for all the updates!! and pictures!! There are tons of trees down and if you want to see pics go to news4jax.com

Thanks Deb - please pray that this thing gets moving. It seems to have stalled again - but also looks like it is drying out a little. 76,000 people without power as of right now - and they will be without until tomorrow. I am very blessed. It is so dangerous out there with all the wind and rain, downed trees and power lines.

NAS Jax, Mayport, and our offices, all schools and government offices are closed again tomorrow. The bridges have been closed for the most part of the day - so you can't go very far anyway. Bridges are closed because of high winds.

Hopefully I can check in again in the morning.

p.s. i was checking the flights and there is one on it's way from Atl to Jax right now. Glad I am not on that plane.

Praying very hard that it will blow over without to much damage to everyone. . .what a weird storm!  Hang in there, all our southern friends. . .haven't heard too much from my stepmom.  She left a message last night saying not much going on, but haven't heard anything since.  Jessemon is still posting on CC, so it must not be too bad there.

At 5 am this morning, moving west at 6 mph with the eye nearing the Gainesville area.    Winds at 50 with gusts to 65.   It's winding down on the coast but still has winds 25 to 30 with higher gusts in the rain bands.

It's very possible Fay will have two more landfalls.   Current projections has her crossing Apalachee Bay and another landfall near Pensacola.   Those while still a TS.

There's also indications that mid week it will be in south central Mississippi where it might make a sharp turn to the NE heading towards the Carolinas.   It will just be a depression then but still a rain maker

Woke up this morning to learn the power had been off but was back on!! It is still very windy and is raining. We are now dealing with the back half of this storm - lots of rain bans still coming in. Flights took off from JIA this morning - Amazing. Wind has shifted. Thank God this is just a tropical storm......

The way radar looks this morning, if you can get that stuff on top of you now to move on, you may get a few hours of drying before the last outer bands get to shore.

Winds for your area this evening should be down to 10 to 20.

People will do it and the consequences are often not good.

When Isabel roared ashore in the Carolinas back in '03 it was a ghost town except for a few chasers.  There were several dogs that were trapped on a strip by a trailer park as winds were peeling the aluminum off trailers and metal awnings and carports were getting tossed like toys.  A radar gun clocked a trash can at 98 mph whizzing by.  Now that's no condition for anyone to be outside in.  Charley was even worse.

I cannot imagine how bad it must feel to be under mandatory evac orders and have to leave your pets behind. :(

I can tell you that I would NEVER evacuate without my cats.........NEVER. Period.

They would go with me, or I would stay with them. I would never abandon them.

I know surfers are a crazy bunch, but I am surprised at the number of swimmers out there!    I saw yesterday a couple with a very small child in the shallow surf......The waves come in so fast that that little kid could have been swept away in the blink of an eye............dumbasses!

Keep track of warnings in real time here!

This page is updated every 60 seconds.  You have the statements at wirespeed.  Much more reliable than TV or radio.  Essential when you're in a high risk area during bad weather.

We are under a tornado watch until 6pm. The St. Johns River has overflowed the sea walls and flooded downtown. Asking everyone to stay OFF the roads.

Going to get my haircut.....:P

It's fairly unstable quite a ways out.  I'm watching three waterspouts about 30nm off the coast of St Augustine now.  I would not want to be out sailing in THAT!:nono:

I saw the tornado on my way home - it was to the East of my house aways - US1 I think. All flights in/out of JIA have been cancelled (at least by Delta) until noon tomorrow - so needless to say there is no need to stay at the airport tonight. I am glad because I was dreading the drive. It is much worse up north than it is here. We are actually in a state of calm right now. No wind - no rain. The butterflys came out to eat - which I took as a good sign.

I do look beautiful now......:eyeroll: I'm sorry I had you so worried!! :surrender: Your prayers kept me safe!!
