Rate this as a:wtf:

Fay has now been over land for over ten hours.   It is now the strongest in it's history.   The Pressure is 998, the lowest it's been, and the winds are now 65, the highest they have been.   What kind of swamp gas is down there in the Evergrades?   May be we need to look at it as a fuel.

Thousands around Naples without electric

Those of you down there keep safe and keep an eye.   It's slowing down on forward movement and will dump a lot of rain

Thanks!!!!!!  It is truly a :wtf:  situation right now..............

It's been bright and sunny here for most of the day so far..........the Intracoastal Waterway right out my back door is calm and even had a few windsurfers out this morning.

I got my candles out this morning and flashlights ready.

CRAP!! We are now under a hurricane watch. Probability it will come back onshore in St. Johns County. Pressure is dropping - down to 986 now. They are trying to decide whether to close the schools in Duval County - just north of St. Johns. They will decide at 6.

This thang better giddyup and get outa here - if it keeps me from leaving on Saturday morning I am gonna be po'd.

This storm continues to baffle forecasters and models alike.  Fickle Fay it definitely is.  By the time this is over I'm sure there will be many rather obscene names too. :big grin:

It better be gone by Saturday!!!!!!

It's  7pm & still sunny.  We just got back from a walk on the beach and to the south and west, it's looking REALLY black and threatening.  Guess I'd better get busy with dinner before we lose power!

Well schools are officially closed tomorrow and thursday. Praying that I don't lose power. Tomorrow morning I have to bring in all the bird feeders and anything that could be a projectile. DD bringing one of their cars to put in my double garage so it's not outside. I have an old camp stove that I haven't used in about 10 years. It takes propane - do you think it is still safe?? There are no mandatory evacuations - so that is a plus. The only thing that bothers me is that a lot of people about a mile north of me lost power for 9 days after Florence went through. (and the fact that my protector is no longer here to ride this out with me - the last time we spent about 4 hours together in the walk in closet with pillows, blankies, and portable TV - sfs)

I'm looking at a model that shows it practically doing a 180, cutting across the peninsula and arriving in the Gulf and intensifying and striking NOLA!

Never have I witnessed such a diversity in computer modeling outputs.  Oh wait this is an election year. :ooooh:

TWC, Dr. Lyons, just said that it has stalled and is not moving and is losing intensity, the pressure has gone up ever so slightly. If this holds true I am throwing a party. However - right now - no one knows what will happen. Duval and St. John's County is preparing everyone for the worst and hoping for the best. I should be able to check in tomorrow during the day. It is predicted to be here at 2am Thursday morning - maybe that will change with the 11 pm update from the hurricane hunters. Fingers and toes are crossed.

Thanks!! I'm heading for lights out. It is gonna be a looooooong day tomorrow.

Denise - if you need to get away from the intracoastal - just call and head this way. I'm on the creek but as long as it doesn't come in at the mouth of the St. Johns I should be out of the flood zone.

It's raining like crazy this morning - but according to the overnight activity it appears that Fay will remain a TS and take a more westerly route south of here. Of course that is all subject to change hourly. What a crazy storm. I will tell ya tho - watching the news here is enough to scare ya to death.....

That's possible.   Winds 50 this morning and the eye is just on the coast south of Titusville drifting north.   With this slow drift north and steering currents, they expect it to stay around the coast for the next 36 hours or so before it heads west.   The good is if it stays on or very near the coast, it shouldn't build much if any.

The bad is the length of time it will be there.   Lots of rain, T-storms, and possible tornadoes.

Take care and you all check in when you can to let us know how you are doing.

Thanks, Kathy!
Small whitecaps on the bay now......rain started this morning about 5:00, but has let off now.  I think the worst will be later today/tonight and tomorrow.

And the longer it stays off shore, the more it will erode our beaches.  :finger:

We just saw a HUGE buoy/channel marker drfit by. It must have broken loose from just past us in the inlet and is floating by heading towards the Bridge of Lions construcion project.  Hope it doesn't slam into the bridge or one of the many sailboats here in the bay.

Eye is now off shore just SE of Daytona Beach.  Winds were 45 but now 50.

Where they were saying it would go back on land later tomorrow, they are now saying tomorrow morning.   It's suppose to enter the Panhandle by Friday so perhaps another 24 hours will see some improvement for those of you in NE Florida.
