I think Vostok just got scratched off my list of "places to see" before I die.....

Meanwhile, at the other end of the world, they're also complaining about the bad weather in Alaska this summer. Here's a post on the Alaska board over at the darkside from one of the frequent posters who lives in the Yukon:

I just finished 11 days of very cold, very wet touring through the Yukon and Alaska. Flying from Juneau to Skagway yesterday morning, all the peaks near Skagway had a substantial load of fresh snow, and now this morning in Whitehorse everything is coated with frost. Global warming?? Snow in July is an inconvenient truth! Pack accordingly.
