Winter weather advisory here in KC starting tomorrow morning, but it looks like the worst of it will be north of us according to the local forecaster. More rain than anything in our area. We might get one or two days this next week that DON'T have rain, freezing rain and snow in the forecast.

beautiful out tonight, but I have a major drift hanging off my roof over my living room window. I'm thinking of taking bets when this thing will fall off. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's two feet off the roof. Our river has been frozen for three weeks now, we've never seen it that early in 33 years.
They're calling for a colder winter with more snow this year. Thank god for the snow blower invention.

The snow started at 10 this morning and lasted until after 3 this afternoon. 2-3 inches in various parts of the city. Road crews did a great job though. No problems getting from point A to point B except for the usual idiots who don't know how to drive in anything but bone dry weather and had everyone backed up going super slow.

Raining here in Utah this morning but it's supposed to change to snow later today and snow most of the day tomorrow.  5 - 10 inches expected in the valley, with more in the mountains.

At least it's one way to save on spending money at Christmas.  If it snows every weekend, when I normally shop, it should limit my purchasing!

We now have a freezing rain advisory starting at 3 a.m. tomorrow. After that, a winter storm watch (for now) lasting into the first part of the week.

We had a nice light snow up here in Boston last night, and was pretty falling over the city.  We are on the 28th floor, so it really made for some serious window sitting.  Too bad I left the rum at home.

Bright sunshine now, and nary a cloud in the sky.

Six inches on my driveway and the snow blower isn't working :shoot me:.  Up in the mountains, one of the ski resorts had 32 inches by 4 AM -- glad I'm not there!

Okay, I'd like to be in Boston, but not out there with ute_fan! Sorry about the snowblower. Shoveling is for the birds!

So far this morning, light freezing rain and it's causing quite a few accidents. The local TV stations are recommending people don't be out if they don't have to. I made it to the store and back. Kind of slick by the cart corral, but the streets here locally were pretty good. Of course, I had to warm up DH's truck to get rid of the ice on it. Now I'm in the house for the weekend as they say this will continue for a good 36 hours. *sigh* Just hope the power doesn't go out. Been there, done that, like to froze my butt off!

I think I'll take my snow over freezing rain.  That's one thing I don't think I've ever experienced.

Luckily, the DH and the DS are home, so they shoveled the driveway.  If it keeps it up like this all year, it may be time to invest in a new snowblower.

Well take a look at what's coming our way starting tomorrow night. I hope we don't lose power with this one!

Freezing Rain Is Once Again Expected To Develop By Monday Evening... And Continue Through Tuesday. Additional Significant Accumulations Of Ice From One Half To One Inch Is Possible With The Potential For Accumulations Exceeding One Inch. This Storm System Has The Potential To Produce Significant Damage To Trees And Power Lines.

It's been about 6 years since our last major ice storm. We lost power for days. We were the lucky ones. The city was a mess for weeks with all the downed tree limbs waiting to be picked up and hauled off. My neighbors were new at the time and he complained because we had to pick up all those limbs ourselves. Idiot! There are so many trees here in our part of town and not nearly enough city employees to come out and help everyone.

Please keep your fingers crossed for us that we don't get the worst of this storm!

Are you coming out to go skiing?  This sure put down a good base for the ski resorts.  Brighton got almost 4 feet and Park City had 2 feet.

Boy, I hope everything is ok out there by you, Deb!  I got a call yesterday from my daughter's unit in Springfield , Illinois, to tell me their X-mas party was canceled-they were worried I was gonna drive down there! I hadn't planned on going, but I thought that was pretty nice.  Anyway, I just read that power is out to thousands.  That REALLY sucks-we've had our share of those types of storms-especially when I lived in Milwaukee.

Looks like things out in the midwest are pretty bad.  We've got a little snow and freezing drizzle here this AM, but nothing like that.

Stay safe!

You'll get a chuckle out of this one then.  Life-long Utah resident here, and NEVER been skiing!  MY DH went a couple of times as a teen, but I've never even put on a pair of skis. :big grin:

After dislocating my knee very painfully as a teen, I decided that skiing, since I was such a klutz, was not in my future.
