TD 6 is suppose to become TS Felix by tomorrow.   May become a hurricane by Tuesday and is projected right now to hit around Belize.   Not what they need down that way.

As promised, it's now TS Felix.  So far, a bit further south than Dean, but I wouldn't want to be that close to another one.  One intensity model is forecasting becoming a hurricane within 48 hours, the other says it won't even maintain tropical status. I'll vote the the second, please.

Heading across the southern Caribbean away from the Windward Islands, westward-moving Felix, now a strong tropical storm with winds of sustained 65 mph may become a hurricane by Sunday morning.

Tropical storm warnings are in effect for the islands of Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao. Tropical storm watches continue for the north coast of Venezuela and Margarita Island.

A west or west-northwest track will bring Felix to northern Honduras, Belize or the Yucatan by midweek.

As of 8:00 PM eastern time, Felix is a Cat 1 hurricane with winds of 75 MPH.   Further strengthening expected over the next 24 hours.

There is another system out in the Atlantic, far from land right now, that they are looking at for forming.   It's track will be north of this if it forms into a TS or hurricane.

Felix reaches hurricane force in Caribbean
Grenada bears brunt of rough weather; Henriette turns deadly in Mexico

ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada - Hurricane Felix gathered strength Saturday and pounded Grenada with heavy rains and winds, snapping small boats loose from their moorings and toppling utility poles on its route toward the Caribbean island of Aruba.

The storm was upgraded from a tropical storm to a Category 1 hurricane Saturday evening, with sustained maximum winds near 75 mph. It was expected to strengthen even further as its outer bands started hitting the islands of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao late Saturday or early Sunday.

Tropical Storm Henriette, meanwhile, was moving out to sea after dumping rain on Mexico’s Pacific coastline. In Acapulco, the storm loosened a boulder that smashed into a home, killing three people. A teenager and her two brothers were also killed when a landslide slammed into their house in a poor neighborhood of the glitzy resort.

I was just about to post about this!  Hope not too much damage since the FOMT cruise goes to both Grenada and Aruba.  As a matter of fact, my best friend and her husband are in Aruba as we speak! Can't wait till she gets back to tell me about it!

Felix is now a Cat 2  with 100 MPH winds and still building.   Aruba and Curacao are feeling it today as it passes just to their north.

Very unusual for a storm to take a track that far south.  The reports I've heard so from Grenada indicate seem to indicate just minor damage (trees & poles down, etc.).  Look out Roatan Tuesday & Belize Wednesday.  :praying:

Felix is now a Cat 3 with 125 MPH winds.   Should get stronger in the next 12 to 24 hours.

It's hurricane winds only go out from the eye around 15 miles so it is compact right now and Curacao and Aruba got by with gale force winds and heavy rain.   No major damage.

Roatan is next in about 48 hours and it may be a Cat 4 as it passes near it.   Still on track for Belize but they say it may drop back down to a Cat 3 before it hits.

As much as I might whine (and I admit that I do) about snow, I'll take it over a hurricane anyday!:nono:

Hope all this hot air goes away for the countries in it's path.

Talk about building fast.   Last night a Cat 1, this morning a Cat 2, by noon a Cat 3, and now a Cat 4 with 140 MPH winds.   Still on track to skim Roatan and direct hit Belize.

I am watching this with great concern.  I pray it turns out to be less then expected.  This is the last thing Roatan or Belize needs.

According to the UK news this morning Felix is now a Cat 5 hurricaine.

The storms outer bands hit Aruba, Curacao and Bonaire so there was no major damage.

They are predicting a lot of damage to Belize tomorrow if it continues on the same path.   Fingers crossed that it will change direction and/or lose strength.

Yes, it's a Cat 5 with 165 MPH winds.   There is some good news, bad news with it this morning.   The track looks to be a little south of earlier into what is usually out of the hurricane zone.

Bad news for Honduras and Roatan as the eye now looks to be along the shore, if not a little inland in Honduras.   This will wreak havic on them.

Good news is for Belize as if it does go this far south, it will lose a lot of strength over Honduras.

You are so right!  Those people have little enough to begin with and then all this terrible weather.  I feel so sorry for them!
