Thanks for the tip!  Did you go on a tour with Serenity? Can you tell us about it? Price, how long, etc?

We did a free style tour with Serenity and couldn't ask for more...we actually got the feel of the island from start to finish. We started off at 8:30 and our tour ended at approximately 4:15 since our cruise departed at 5:00pm. We had enough time to get back aboard with a hassle. We stopped at the main sights of interest to us(Morne Fortune,Marigot Bay,Banana Plantation,Fishing Villages,Waterfall and Volcano). Lunch was served at the Beacon Restaurant where we got an awesome view of the Pitons and Volcano. We spent most of our time at a waterfall in the rainforest where we learned to crack open a coconut like the locals would do and also got the chance to buy piping hot creole bread in the creole language. Thanks to John's wife Caroline who prepared local bite size fish cakes and coconut balls for us. I must say we had it to ourselves that day and was away from what the normal cruise crowd did. This tour was $385.00 per couple and there was 10 persons in our group. We begged for a discount and got it but I must say we tipped our ambassador Sherma and Driver Paulie really good. St.Lucia was the highlight of our cruise. We will be back hopefully next year but there are so many places in the world to see.If you need any photos of our tour feel free to let me know so that I can email you anytime.

I forgot to mention they offer about 52 tours so if you call then you can get to do something different or for less money.

WOW!  It sounds great!  Although, I have to admit that I am NOT a fan of long tours.....about 2- 2 1/2 hours is as long as I want to tour for. ;)
My mom and I are going to St. Lucia in March on Jewel of the Seas, so I'll keep the contact info!
What ship were you on?

Catnip doing a short tour with them should not be a problem. Actually if you call the toll free # 1866 766 0794 they can tailor your tour as you want it. be sure to speak with John or Caroline they were very helpful and I think you can request that Sherma be your guide. She was there with us every step of the way. We were on Adventure of the seas.

Debra,
Thanks so much for that info!  I will definitely keep it!
Do you have any other tour tips, or any other info on any of the other islands? If so, we really need to build up our ports-of-call section here....we'd appreciate any info you can give us!

Here is what we did on the other islands;

St.Thomas- We stayed on board since two persons from our party wasn't too well.

St.Martin- We did a bit of shopping around and our cab driver took us at a beach where we got to do some swimming and snorkelling as well.We saw quite a bit of persons with their birth suits on. We seemed to be really weird in some instances with our gears but consentrated on what we went to do at the beach.lol

Barbados- We went swimming with the turtles which was fun since i'm a big turtle fan. We then headed to do some shopping since we had sufficient time to do so.

Antigua-We did a beach tour with scenic tours, it was very well organized and really enjoyied the white sand and torquoise water...it was more less a day at the beach with a short tour of the island.

St.lucia was our highlight. Scroll up to see about St.lucia experience with Serenity Vacations.

The Saturday we had a day at sea and Sunday headed back to San Juan and offcourse homeward bound.

We did no excursions through the cruiseship. We organized two on our own and the other two were organized by Scenic Tours and Serenity Vacations.

It was well worth it.

Sounds great!  I've been to Antigua twice, but my mom and I only did some shopping in the pier area.  If I get back there, I do want to do an island tour, or go to one of the beaches.

I was also going to let you know if you like to change avatars like I do, in the avatar section, there is a "created" option. There's tons more avatars there! :big grin:

Debs, thanks for the info! I like to plan our tours independently too. We used to always take ship excursions until we got a few cruises under our belts. Now it's rare that we use one of theirs.

Sent emails earlier today and received a tel. call within minutes, quite impressive. Pleasant to. But I'll wait on responses from the others.
