We did not get to the lobby, so I am not sure about that, but the pool is incredible. If you like water slides, they have a really cool one that actually goes right through the middle of the shark/fish tank that is in the middle of the pool.

Let's see: the laser show on Fremont Street, the shark tank at Mandalay Bay, the dancing fountains at Bellagio, Madame Tussaud's at the Venetian, the dolphin habitat at the Mirage, any of the Cirque du Soleil shows (there are at least four, maybe five by now - I saw Ka last time I was there and it was fantastic), the pirate show at Treasure Island, the Forum Shops at Ceasars (the talking statues are cheesy, but it is Vegas), the roller coaster at New York, New York.
The best thing is that many of these are "on the street" and are free. Walking up and down the Strip is an experience in and of itself. And since every hotel has become a theme park of sorts, just wandering through the various lobbies is a thing to do.
Haven't been to Vegas in almost two years. All this reminiscing has made me realize it's time to start planning a return trip. LOL.

At the risk of being put in the same "class" as Bama, my whole family is headed down in November to see a Billy Joel concert. I'm just wondering where everybody's favorite (and relatively cheap) place to stay is.

Not sure if you are going on a weekday or weekend. Watch the rates for the Golden Nugget downtown. The rooms there are very nice - and usually they have great promo rates. For instance - I got my mailer this week - Sept 1 - 30 (Sunday - Thursday) $69/night. Oct 1 - 31 (Sunday - Thursday) $89/night

Just read that OJ was arrested at the Palms today. Guess all those celebrities like sleeping with murderers.  I've got a local friend staying where the burglary took place. Can't wait to hear her version.
