Friday the 12th would be OK for me. IF we do it on Friday, I would have to come alone, since DH doesn't get off work till around 6pm.
If we could do it on Saturday 13th, then he and I both could come.
I am fine either way. Of course, I'd rather he come with me, so he could drive!  But it's not a necessity.
Let's decide on a day, and then maybe see if Chris could join us, or Allen & Stephanie.
Is erby is too far away?
What kind of place are we interested in for drinks/dinner? Fancy/shmancy? Casual? I vote casual!!!!!! :coolguy:

Casual for sure. Friday would work better as I can shoot down after work.
I expect that Saturday I'll be looking at properties most of the day so I don't know if that would work. I wish it would work, as I'd like to meet Lelan too.
Erby's not far from Allen. Maybe we can round up the troops.

Start asking around for a place.........I'll be thinking on it, too.
HAve you ever eaten at a Cheesecake Factory? It's good for a lively, casual place, but it's pretty LOUD!

Can't say I have ever eaten there...certainly an option.
Only place I'm familiar with down there is Carolina Ale House.  I wonder why.

| Hey guys! Sign me up! If you need any help with preparations or questions about any of the locations, just let me know! Ale House is good... probably a better choice than Cheesecake Factory... since that place is at the mall, it's nearly impossible to get in there in less than an hour or more. There are plenty of great bars/restaurants around here though... happy to help where I can!!

There are a lot of great places downtown... depends on what you are looking for. Hibernian is a fun place, nice pub. We have a Flying Saucer down there as well, for the beer nuts it's a great place. There is a Tir Na Nog and a few other bars in City Market, which is a great place at night. If you want something a little more upscale, there is the Blue Martini, they generally have live music (jazz/blues), The George on Glenwood is nice as well. Both Hi5 and Bogarts will be a little more lively at night with DJ's and bands, but you also get the younger crowd depending on what is going on that night. Red Room is owned by the same group that owns both of those, and they usually have something going on as well...
So, are you thinking pub/brewery, wine bar, martini bar, etc? Also, we could start off at Hibernian and move from there, there are several places in walking distance. Since the colleges are down there, a lot of the downtown places do have a college draw, but they also have the after work professional crowd, so you generally get a nice mix.
Let me know and I'll put up some info on several places and see what you guys think...there is no shortage of things to do in Raleigh though
And we are planning for Friday right? I'll pull up the calendar this weekend when it comes out and see what is going on down there that night...

| As far as I'm concerned, the entertainment will be a non-factor. I'll be staying in Oxford with family and will need to be on the road back out there by 9 or 9:30.

I was thinking the same thing........since I'll have over an hour's drive back home, I'd like to be leaving around the same time.

A sweathog, LMAO!! I will see what I can come up with... good restaurant with good cocktails, not too noisy so we can talk... and somewhere centrally located and easy to find. Shouldn't be too tough!! I will do some thinking and post some suggestions later :)

Okay guys, I have been a little tied up but I will definitely find us a good place downtown before we head that way, LOL! I am going to be wrapped up in the RNC tonight... but maybe tomorrow night.
So we have:
Rich, Denise, Me, Donna, possibly JSME and hubby? Anyone else? Maybe we should post something on the land get togethers? I think many of the people we have live more towards the Charlotte area... but we may have some more that can make it...
