We're going to WDW in June. I wish we could have worked something out for the fall but it's so impossible for the kids bevause of school schedules. I was reading some of the WDW books and it says a lot of the parks are open late during the summer. Most of the books also said that you need to get to tha parks as early as possible so they won't fill to capacity.
So this is my question: If we decide to hit the parks about noon-2:00, will be be denied admission?? Since it will be so hot, I would like to enjoy some of the parks in the evening hours.

| You won't be denied admission, but the park will be crowded. You might be better off going early in the morning, leaving for a while in the afternoon, and going back later on.

Thanks Rich! What times do the parks start to thin out?

If the park reaches capacity, it will be closed to further admission. I don't know if they open it up again when the crowds start to thin out in the early- to mid-afternoon.
Where are you staying? What we typically try to do is stay on-property, get up early to take advantage of the Extra Magic Hour, then leave the park in the early afternoon for different activities or a rest. We then head back ~5 p.m. and stay until closing. Especially during this summer, this approach will help you miss some of the hottest parts of the day in the parks.

True. She's going before the peak of the summer season though, so she should be okay.

Those are the times I avoid the parks like the plague.
I doubt any of the parks will reach capacity in June especially since there are no holidays then.
However, the parks get MOBBED around 12-4pm and that's when I'm outta there. As Becky and Rich suggest, get there as early as possible and start heading out of there around 1pm. Head back to the hotel and take a nap by the pool so that you are refreshed for the late nights.
I can pretty much finish everything I want to do in the 4 hours before 1pm then if I waited until 12pm to hit the parks and stayed until dinner time or beyond.
Of course, if you'd rather have your fingernails pulled out then wake up early for the parks then I would sleep in, hang out by the pools and head to the parks after 3pm and stay until closing.
I would do everything I can to avoid being in the park during the hottest and most crowded part of the day. But that's just me. But if I AM going to be there during that time, I would schedule air conditioned meals during that time and spend it people watching.
Have a GREAT time!!! Toy Story Mania at DHS will be up and running by then!!

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/calendar/parkhours/calendarHome?id=MKCalendarParkHoursMonthlyViewPage&date=20080601
here is a link to the calendar with operating hours. to see operating hours for other parks, change the park in the drop down menu.
don't forget to take advantage of extra magic hours if you are staying at a disney resort. at that time of year, they will probably stay opened an additional 3 hours.
repete's goin in june too! (beerguru here)

Well we decided on Disney next month. Were going to book the Majesty OTS for a four nighter but I am cruised out right now. Going down on 5/03 for four nights and staying at the Polynesian. It's funny that I used to live thirty minutes from Disney for many years. It used to be my second home. It will be nice to spend some time there again. I love Epcot and we will be between the crowds and major heat.

| Have fun you guys! I suspect in a few more years we'll be returning to Disney too. Should be a lot of changes since our last visit. You all can tell us about the latest!

Gurl, If you are lucky a major hurricane will be strong enough to pass over the park the day you are there and you should'nt have to wait for more than an hour or two per ride!

LMAO! I don't mind waiting but I think I would enjoy it more when the sun goes down.

This is the first time at the Poly. Two years ago we stayed at the Swan which was not that great. Three years ago we stayed at the Contemporary. Nice but it was undergoing a major refurb at the time. I understand it came out nice. I like staying in the hotels that are on the monorail system. Makes it easier to get to Epcot. I will let you know how the Poly is.

I'm sure that's a great money-saver! So, since you probably won't want to drive back to the villa for a break, you might check out other activities to break up your afternoon and get you out of the heat/sun. Some of our favorites are DisneyQuest, renting a Mouseboat and playing around in the lagoon, getting a spa treatment, or having a nice lunch at one of the sit-down restaurants in lieu of a big dinner. You can make your priority dining reservations now. There's also a lot to do in Epcot that will get you indoors and out of the heat.
I tend to overplan when we go there, with grids for which parks on which days and where we're going to eat along with times and reservation numbers, but it's SO worth it when we get there!

Depends on where the villas are located. There are many villa resorts that are only a few minutes away from WDW. The SPACE in a villa is sooooo nice.
As Becky points out, there is TONS to do at WDW. Because there is so much to do, it can be so expensive for tickets, and most people go once or twice a decade, it's worth it to do some pre-planning to try to get as much in.
On the other hand, it's suppose to be a vacation and if you find that it is too hectic when you get there and you are getting stressed, slooooooow down. You won't be able to do or see everything (I go 2 times a year and I don't) - just enjoy what you do see and do.
Part of the fun for me is to pre-plan but many times those plans get put aside once we get there and we go with the flow. Have a GREAT time!

Those are soooo good and probably has enough sugar and calories for 2 days worth of meals!! Good thing you'll be in WDW and will be able to walk it off.
Don't forget to order the kitchen sink at Beaches and Cream. I LOVE to see people's expression when it gets served and they haven't ever seen it before.

Haven't stayed at the Poly since I was in High School and my aunt and uncle took me and my 2 cousins. The rooms at the monorail resorts are big. It is a beautiful resort.
I guess if you stayed at the Swan and wasn't crazy about it, then you aren't as fond of the Epcot resorts as much as the monorail resorts? You might want to give the Yacht & Beach Club Resort a try next time. Love the fact that it is right behind France and the UK at Epcot. You can watch Illuminations from the International Gateway and walk back to your room in about 10 minutes. The Swan is a longer walk and the lines for that boat to get there are super long after the park closes.
Btw, did you know that they are adding a Disney timeshare villa element to the Contemporary Resort? They will be naming it the Kingdom Towers - something like that - sounds like a cult. It's that BIG C-shaped building they are building next to the Toaster Oven, I mean the Contemporary. I told my kids that the Toaster Oven needed a matching Waffle Iron.

I saw photos of the new Kingdom Towers on the Disboards. I have to be honest and say that the rooms so far at Disney's resorts have left me a little disappointed. For the prices that they charge, I thought that they should be a little more sound proof. I have seen photos of the room at the Poly and they are a good size. Each room actually sleeps five people. We won't be around the property much. We bought three days of Park Hoppers.

You know what, I just thought of something and can be a big pal and help you out. I can go over to the disboards.com and get Bicker to come over here and answer any question you might have concerning Disney. He is the expert you know? Want me to do that for you? Just being a good friend!!!!!!!

Well just changed from the Poly to the Contemporary. We could get a room in the tower which was better than what was available over at the Polynesian. We stayed here a few years ago when it was undergoing the major refurb.
