I was reading some of the WDW books and it says a lot of the parks are open late during the summer. Most of the books also said that you need to get to tha parks as early as possible so they won't fill to capacity.

So this is my question: If we decide to hit the parks about noon-2:00, will be be denied admission?? Since it will be so hot, I would like to enjoy some of the parks in the evening hours.

You know what, I just thought of something and can be a big pal and help you out. I can go over to the disboards.com and get Bicker to come over here and answer any question you might have concerning Disney. He is the expert you know? Want me to do that for you? Just being a good friend!!!!!!!:big grin::devil::big grin::devil::big grin::devil::big grin:

We took three grandkids two years ago in early June and althought it was much more crowded than when we visited in January this year, it was not as bad as July/August (which we've also done in the past).  My recommendation is to go to the rides that you don't want to miss and get the "fast pass" first thing so that you can plan the rest of your day around it.  That is not a great idea if you have several rides that you have to plan around but if there is that "one" important ride (like Space Mountain), I would go there first and get the fast pass.  Just take your time and see what you can and enjoy the days and don't worry if you miss some things on the first day.....you can always go back later.  My grandkids didn't really care anything about any of the parks except Magic Kingdom so we just let them spend most of their time there and after 4 days, they had pretty much ridden everything they wanted to.  Just take your time, don't kill yourself and have fun .  That's what it's all about.

Thanks for the advice Randie! How are things in BA? I was up your way sort of this weekend near Wagoner. I saw a lot of flooded areas and the Arkansas River was pretty full.

Yes, alot of the creeks overflowed over the roads on Thursday, so badly that they called off school because the buses couldn't get through.  But, by mid day, the water had receded enough that there were no other major problems.  There were a few people with water in their homes but nothing too massive.  It's supposed to be dry all week so that will help out.  It was scary, hearing the flood warnings go off in the middle of the night.  BA is good.  Got 5 more weeks of school and then summer vacation...........only 3 months until our cruise to Alaska!!!!!

Have a great time!!!

Since it most likely will be hot, make sure you drink lots of water, wear a hat, and use sun screen.

If you can, do the parks early and rest either in a restaurant, at the resort or pool, or anywhere with a/c during the hottest part of the day.

Worst case scenerio, you can ask for a free cup of ice at any of the counter service places.  Use it to cool down.  You don't want heat stoke.

Just don't over do it.  Remember - you are on VACATION!

Safe travels!

Have a great trip!

We just booked a Villa for 8 nights over the Xmas holidays.  Can't wait!  I would love to hear about your trip when you return, especially how you enjoyed the villa.  We've always stayed on site in the past and I'm curious as to how the villa experience will change our Disney experience.  We only plan to do three days next time and not consecutive.

We've gone in January, March and July and have never had much problem getting on the rides we want.  We tend to get there when the gates open, do as much as we can until it starts to get crowded.  We usually start with one of the more crowded parks...MK or the Studios and when it gets busy, head over to Epcot for Happy Hour.  You can have a margarita in Mexico, a beer in Britain, a glass of wine in France or Italy...and just stroll around and enjoy the beauty of the "World".  Love it!

Forgot to mention...

Careful on Pirates of the Caribbean at MK.  MY DD who was 15 last July is a HUGE Pirates fan...loves all the movies, Johnny Depp, all of it.  She was so excited to ride POTC because it was refurbished and they added Johnny (AKA Captain Jack Sparrow) to the ride.   DD, DS and myself got on the ride while DH and younger DS hung out waiting for us.   Don't we get stuck in the ride....FOR OVER AN HOUR!!!  Our boat got stuck right as we were about to go under the bridge where the pirate is sitting there with his leg hanging over and a parrot squawking on his shoulder.  To our right on a beach was another pirate snoring, with two pigs snorting.  After about 30 minutes of sitting there and not moving, I thought I was going to go insane.  SENSORY OVERLOAD!!!  Our boats were bumper to bumper.  Finally they turned on the lights but left the sound on....about 10 minutes later then turned the sound off.

Long story short, we were one of the last boats to be evacuated by cast members in hip waders, in the water, pulling us backwards to a ledge where we hopped out and got to walk through the back doors, through a warehouse that stored all kinds of props, etc. for the ride and then through the backlot.  That was quite interesting because we saw some characters with costumes half off, heads off, just strolling around.  Good thing my kids were not younger because it may have ruined it for them but we kind of got a kick out of it.

Needless to say, when we got back to DH and DS, they were not amused, having been waiting well over an hour for us when it should have been 20 minutes...

Quite the experience but if I EVER hear "Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum" again, I cannot be held accountable for my actions!!

Well, there are "rumors" that POTC is haunted by a welder named George who died during construction (fell) and the the CMs of the ride HAVE TO say good morning to George and good night to George otherwise the ride breaks down and stops and gives them problems.

Maybe there was an unbelieving CM or trainee that morning that didn't say good morning. :big grin:

That's too funny!  Although kinda creepy too.  Next time I ride it I will ask if everyone said good morning to George that day....

If I tell DD this story, she'll want to ride it that much more.:shoot me:

Ok, guys....I am no longer a Disney virgin!

We really had a great time! The Villa that Rich booked (Fantasy World Resort) for us was great! The lobby staff was very professional and eager to help you in any way. The villa was two story with two bath, two bedroom, and a washer and dryer. The bedrooms were very spacious with comfy beds and pillows. The kitchen had every appliance imaginable and we spent a lot of time in there. There was plenty of channels on the TV. They had three pools and the main pool had a hot tub and a poolside bar. There were all sorts of activities going on during the day and they did offer WDW and US shuttles. We did not use them because the times were not good for us but we did notice a lot of people did take advantage of them. For the price we got the villa for, it was very much worth the 3 mile drive to WDW and pay the $11.00 parking fee. A big thanks to Rich for booking this for us!!

Our first park was Magic Kingdom. We got there early and we were the first in line for many rides. We left about 2:00 and went back about 6:00 and stayed until closing. The Pirates ride was closed but there was so much more to ride. We tricked my 7 YO into going on Big Thunder Mountain and she loved it! As I expected, the lines were fairly long but the wait times given were always longer than the actual time to ride. The longest lines were at the Dumbo ride and the teacups. I will NEVER do teacups again! I thought I was going to blow chow! I don't think I have ever been dizzier in my life!! We enjoyed the Monster's Inc. show and the kids loved the Country Bear Jamboree. We got to see some of the night parade but missed the fireworks so we could take advantage of the short lines at Space Mountain.

The next day we went to Epcot. Spent a ton of time in line waiting for pictures and autographs for the kids. We did the Soarin ride and the Nemo ride here. Otherwise, just walked around a lot and looked around.

We also went to Animal Kingdom. I really enjoyed it. We got to ride the Everest coaster and the kids loved it. The line was about 40 minutes but went by really quick. We saw the Tree Woman close up and that was a treat. The Nemo show was really good and I'm glad we got to see that. The kids enjoyed the safari and animal trails. We had a great lunch in an Asian restaurant that had the best egg rolls I have ever eaten!

The crowds were pretty overwhelming but I am glad I knew to expect it. Most people were very respectful but I did get frustrated at times with people stopping in the middle of a traffic flow or cutting in front of me. And I cannot imagine why someone would want to take an infant here. I can't tell you how many small babies we saw here and it was sad to see most of them miserable because of the heat.

I knew that the prices would be high but they were not as high as I was expecting. They were very comparable to the local amusement parks around here. I was glad I did bring my own backpack full of water though!

My DD is supposed to go back to WDW in June 09 for a band competition so I am hoping to go back as a sponser. As far as the DH is concerned, he has seen enough Micky Mouse to last a lifetime!

Again to Rich: Thanks so much for all of your help in planning this trip!! The experience exceeded my expectations!
