| No place is ever really safe, but when the US embassey is closed due to what is going on, I think that takes it just one more notch towards not safe. We considered going over when we were in the Gilbraltir area at New Years, but I wimped out.

anyone seen the movie Babel???... I am whispering this
and I thought I'd be calling my daughter from North Africa to wish her Happy Birthday....... instead I may be calling her to wire $$$$$, a fashionable Burka, and a fresh supply of Lancome with SP factor 90!!! They'll be sorry if they kidnap Pearl with those crappy feet of hers..... what bomber would want to menopausal woman anyways?? We don't blow up well, we only swell....................:drunkfriends: :drunkfriends:
they're still offering all the same excursions... but have added a flack jacket, and changed the buses to Sherman tanks to the prices.

| looked up the port of Casablanca. A few HAL ships are making the odd stop there, but is used mainly by Costa cruiseline (not much). Can't understand why this is the only Princess ship going here and only once????

You ladies are a hoot! I think that you would make the islamofacist regret the day they took you on. The odds are 99.999% that you will be fine. Hell, I admire your attitude.

JC...... you have to know what we're married too!!!!!!!!! If we get out of control , one will attempt to arrange an international intervention with a Lear jet to make a private pick up, and the other will be stratigizing a Jihad!!!( and calling all his Irish nephews to assist with the tactical issues!)
The only concern I really have is getting on a tourist bus and travelling to another city.......but damn it, no one is going to stop me from seeing the original Hassan mosque!... and the second concern is finding a funky looking veil!

I imagine a casbah in Casablanca will be full of funky veils. That I would think would be a given. So, what is your cultural connection to Casablanca? Humphrey Bogart?

The Hardy Boys! remember that book, something Caravan??
from what I understand Casablanca isn't much of a great port stop, but I really want to see the Hassan II mosque, and thought it would be great to roll Rabat into the equation (to see the capital, and the original Hassan mosque). I think women are allowed in the old one, but not the new??
Anyways the new one is beautiful and quite controversial... some say wonderful, and others ticked due to the amount of $$ put into it with all the poverty in Morocco. And of course to add a little twist to the religious theme........ they've stuck a laser light on it for night time..... duh????? Gee, we won't be there at night, so will miss it
I'd love to go to Marrekesh, but it's too far. My TA has been trying to talk us into an all inclusive to North Africa from Toronto It's cheap, and the resorts are ultra luxurious. A bunch of them did it last year, and had a blast. Apparently it's the up and coming junkets to do, but until they get the Algiers stuff and the western Sahara issues resolved, I'll stick to what I know................

| The Canaries are very popular. Maybe that will be a good option. Don't want you girls in any dangerous situations!

I wonder?? see my email re another day at sea...... do the old folks need the extra rest???? Damn it I want a port!!
Anyone got ideas of how they would do this? Sea day, Tangier? Canary Is? How about a day in Dover???
HAL cruisers have written to cruiseline to ask for a diversion, apparently they are considering it. Its only one cruise so far that has cancelled the port.
