Oh my, it took longer to edit my cutting and pasting than it did to write the darn thing! It came out odd when I first put it on here...lots of wierd letters and words in-between the text.

That happens with some posts and I'm not really sure why. I try to edit it out of my own posts when that happens but sometimes I miss one here and there.

Hi, I'm back and trying to catch up with the Europe stuff. I've been really busy finishing up the research and getting things done for our trip over the pond on 4/21.
We opted to take the ship's "on your own" tour. First time out in a new city that's a long way from the port, I like to go with ship sponsored transpo.
Yes, the buses let you off at La Place de Concorde, and there is a HOHO bus pick-up spot there, too (or really close). With DH still not completely good on his boo-boo foot, I think we'll do the HOHO.
I'm also going to buy a single ticket for that day to the Louvre (ask me if you don't have the link). It's about $10, and I've got detailed instructions on how to get to the Mona Lisa.

Peggy, you should add yourself to the "Who's Next" thread.

pcur, do you have the directions to the shorter line entrance to the Louvre? I understand there is more than one entrance and one of them is usually shorter. It was the carousal entrance on the side.

Here's a map of the Louvre. The Carousel is in the middle, and I thought I heard it was the Richelieu entrance that was faster.

Here's the web site to buy your ticket in advance. They charge an extra $1.25 to email it to you, and nothing extra to mail it to you (takes 10 days):

Take the HOHO in Paris. Pick-up spots at both Concorde and Eiffel, depending on where your transpo drops you off. Buy your tickets online, and give them to the bus driver. Quick. Then get off at all the good stuff along the way.
We loved it!

Coka - you are soo funny - Loved your post on your Paris vacation.
We were in Paris in Mar 08 - and I'd go again in a heartbeat. As with you I'd prefer to be there when it was a bit warmer. So I'm thinking May could be just right.
I see you walked everywhere - we used the HOHO for the three days we visited and purchased the tickets for the full three routes. Great way to get around in the rain and 39F weather. Stayed in the St. Germain area - at the Hotel Daphane. Hubby said the room was exquisite, like a French pastry - and about the same size. LOL Cozy but we could at least smoke in it. (Nice big windows for fresh air) Of course Paris is now non-smoking (public places) so we spent quite a bit of time outside.
