2/6/08 to the S. Caribbean on the new Gem:big grin:

All on NCL.

WOW!!! Sounds like you've got some great cruises planned!!!!!  I'm jealous. :out of it:

Yeah, we're excited.  I'm hoping the kids (5&9) handle the flight to HI well.  The summer one with no kids will be awesome, a week on the Dawn.  The NCL CC card is great.

We've got an American Airline CC, so we get frequent flier miles!  Aren't they great!

Have you always cruised on NCL?  My first cruise way back in 81 was on NCL.

RCCL once, our first.  2X on Carnival with no kids, 2X on NCL with kids.  Amy also did a one nighter on the Dawn to show her Mom what it's like.

With the kids fresstyle works great for us.  We really like the RCCL cruise on the then-Nordic Empress, but the set dining was a little problematic with a young child.  Now that we have 2 NCL CCs we pile up the points and it makes'em cheaper.

Hi Jodi!
Do you typically cruise once a year? My mom and I go every spring, usually around the end of March/first part of April.

We leave on the Liberty on February 25th!  Can't wait-only 2 weeks!  Probably the Miracle Next February or March.  This is my 3rd cruise-all with Carnival :big grin:

Hi:

We are on the NCL Dawn on 8/18/07, with our kids, age 12 and 9.

We are also on the NCL Dawn 10/26/07 for a 2 night, without the kids.:D

We are staying in the same AB suite (our first time in a suite) for both cruises!

Last year on the NCL Spirit, we had all 4 of us in an inside.  It was 3 lower beds and 1 upper.  It was a great cruise.  The cabin was way too crowded with wall to wall beds.

The AB suites on NCL are 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living and dining area, and balcony.  We also get to have the services of a butler.  I am told that the suites are great.  This will be a big change for us.  It seems like a long way away!

The ABs are awesome. For us the butler was no big deal, we only had coffee delivered in the AM.

Have fun.

My wife and I are looking forward to the space and also to having a hot breakfast delivered in the am while the kids sleep in.  I hear that the tub is also great:P

You will love the AB.  We got an upsell to one in 4/05 and became spoiled.  We had one this past November also, that I booked outright.  They are great for traveling with kids, lots of room.  The butler service is a great perk as well as the conceirge.  They make all your dinner reservations for you as well as arranging that you are the first off the ship at all ports of call.

We had an AC suite on the Spirit last week which is the same as the AB without the extra bedroom and bath as we left the teens home.:big grin:  While onboard we booked the Spirit again for May 19th also in an AC, I can't wait

Wow!  It looks like you love the "suite life" Annie

You have been on the Dawn and the Spirit a number of times too.  We loved our cruise on the Spirit, the cabin options for 4 not great though.

My wife and I are really looking forward to the AB on the Dawn in August and again in October for the 2 day.

I read on the other board that there is a rumor that the Dawn may replace the Majesty in Boston when the Majesty leaves NCL.  This would make us very happy.

Well being I won't fly anymore - this really suits us leaving from NY - we're only 45 minutes from the pier.  The Dawn is actually going to Miami in November and the Spirit to New Orleans then also.  They will be replaced by the Gem which starts sailing in December.  I am looking at the Gem for Feb '08 but right now it is a little too pricy for me.  I'll see what happens when I sail in May if the prices have come down or just wait it out.  We'll have to take the teens on that one and for four it's expensive.........

I knew about the Dawn going to Miami and the Spirit going to NO in the fall.  The Gem looks nice but a bit pricy.

We also have the big new NCL ships to look forward to.  I bet NYC will get one.

We take our cruises in the summer so we are waiting to see what NCL is going to do about the Spirit and The Dawn in the summer of 2008.  They have not kept a ship in Fla or NO in the summer months.

I have to tell my booked cruise story because I am so excited about it.  The bad part is that it is not until Feb. 2008.

While on the Dawn last November, we booked the NCL Sun's Hawaiian itinerary for February 2008.  We booked an balcony room for my husband, our two teenagers, 16 and 17 and me.  We were happy with the price as the balcony room was just about the same price as an oceanview on one of the 7 day NCL Pride ships.  I was very happy that it would be NCL international rather than NCL  America, but not quite thrilled with the sea days to get to Fanning Island.

NCL announced they were eliminating the international Hawaiian itinerary and replacing it with the Pride of Aloha.  I immediately started checking things out to see how it would impact us and found there were no balcony rooms that would hold 4 people.  In addition the balcony we booked was in the front of the ship and had a very large balcony, 90+ sq feet.  I looked at the varying options and couldn't find anything that looked like it would work.  I knew I would have to negotiate and that is not one of my strengths.

NCL made it work by giving us a Penthouse Suite - AC.  When the rep called with the news she said there was also a small price difference.  I held my breath as this cruise was already costing us a lot.  Not everyone's idea of small is the same.  The price difference was $6 dollars less.

I called NCL today about a different issue but since I had them on the phone asked sheepishly if I could get a union discount.  She said that basically I could, but the only way was to cancel my outstanding reservation, lose my $200 OBC and have to rebook.  It would cost $2,000 more to book the next lowest category.

The only thing wrong with all of this is that I like to book early and then constantly check to see if the price has gone down.  I know that won't be happening.  I guess I'll have to book another cruise so I can check prices.
