In the car or the motorhome? We did the Griswald thing in the car for several years with two kids. Thank heavens those days are over!
In the car...would be too hard to pull the RV to CA. Thank God for portable DVD players and earplugs!:monkeys:

Wow! You have a nice big group! Check out our different forums for ideas. If you don't find enough answers please ask. This bunch comes up with some goodies. I've been to all those ports as I'm sure some of the others have. Haven't been on the Destiny since about 2002, but we enjoyed it for the most part. You'll have a great time! :D

I've never done any formal tours in any of those islands, except for St. Thomas and Barbados. THe island tour in Barbados (about 3-hrs) is nice---it's a beautiful island. After the tour, they dropped you off in town (if you wanted to), to look around or shop a bit. Then, you could walk back to the ship, or catch a cab.
Dominica was very unspolied when I was there about 6-7 years ago. Not much shopping there. A very lush island and I heard the island tours was very nice. My mom and I just stayed close in the little village and just walked around by ourselves there.
Antigua is another nice island. They have 365 beaches! I heard an island tour here is nice, too. We just walked around the little town here, too, and shopped. They do have some cute shops.

If you've never been to San Juan before, a trip around Old San Juan is in order unless you dock late in the day. El Morro is interesting as is the cathedral where supposedly Ponce de Leon was entombed at one time. The streets are cobblestone so you'll need good walking shoes. They have a lot of stores with the same stuff, but some unique stores as well. My favorite place to eat there is The Parrot Club which opens at 6 p.m. We loved listening to the little coquis chirp (the national animal which is a tiny frog) while we ate in the open air courtyard upstairs.
St. Thomas has tons of things to do. Shopping is always fun there or you can check out Coki point. I think they have an aquarium there. All kinds of watersport, lots of beaches or you can go to St. John for a day. 2/3 of it is a U.S. National Park and Trunk Bay is gorgeous!
In Dominica we went snorkeling to the Champagne Reef. Volcanic activity warms the water in certain places and attracts a lot of interesting sea life. You can see the bubbles coming up and the water our guide brought up in his snorkel was HOT!
St. Lucia was a tour I think. I found my favorite store there, Caribelle Batik. I need to go back someday to replace my silk caftan. Next time though, I want to go to the Pitons.
In Barbados I've done an island tour twice. Pretty interesting!
In Antigua, I did an island tour that went to Nelson's Dockyard, Shirley Heights and the trip included a lobster lunch and beach time at Turner's Beach. My memory is a little sketchy on this one, but I THINK that's where I ran into the Yoda creator's shop. I have a signed lithograph from him showing a map of the Caribbean and the route of our ship. Last I heard, he also had a shop on St. Maarten.

I love the Spirit class ships! Have you done the Mexican Riviera before? Tried the Spirit class before? Should be a good time with that size group!

We have not been on a Spirit class ship. gonna be great to see a different ship.
We've done the los Cabos, Puerta, Mazatlan. but not this itinerary yet. The Spirit will be sailing to Acapulco, Manzanillo and Ixtapa. I hear Ixtapa is very nice. Gonna be a blast, come join the club......

We sailed the Carnival Spirit in November, but were rerouted to the traditional Mexican Riviera itinerary plus Ensenada (instead of the Southern Mexican Riviera) courtesy of Hurricane Sergio. Therefore, we will probably take this cruise again in the next few years. I would really like to see the new ports. We enjoyed the ship and it was our DDs first cruise. This made it more special. DW and I thought they had a great kids program. After forcing the girls to stay, we had to pry them away.
What are you going to do in Acapulco, Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa, and Manzanillo?

Too bad about the rerouting, but the traditional itinerary is nice as well. Havn't looked into what we're going to do. We need to start really looking at those excursions. DW told me they didn't have zip lines though. that's too bad.
I know what you mean about having to pry the kids away from the Camp Carnival program. We had to force our DD (then 4, now 6) to go, but she never complained about going after the first time. Our 10 yr old son had no problem going and made a lot of friends. Our other DD(12) followed her aunt every where she went. The were known by name at karaoke.
