The Monarch will be my first RC cruise, but it is not until my birthday weekend in March. November is on the Carnival Spirit.

As you probably know, Monarch is an older RCCL ship. I was on it back in the mid 90's and it was beautiful. (this was back before the "mega-ships")....I remember being awed at the 2 glass elevators in the atrium!  It doesn't have all the "bells and whistles" that the newer ships have. But the lay-out is nice and it's easy to get around.
IF you've never cruised on RCCL, you might be a little surprised and disappointed in the cabin size.  They are notoriously small and the Monarch is no exception. (Now I am speaking of "regular" cabins, not suites.)  Is your whole family going? Will you have one cabin or two? Pack lightly, because there's not much room in the cabins!

Nope, this quickie 3 day is a birthday getaway and will just be DW and me. I am aware she is an older ship (I've seen some great pictures and she is still beautiful) and won't have the bells and whistles. That's why we are going on the AOS 3 months later!!! :big grin: I am also aware the cabins are quite small, but hey, its my birthday weekend and I expect to be close to DW....;)

We are certainly looking forward to it.............we have done a partial canal on the Brilliance and decided to do a full transit.........we got a jr. suite for this one and once RC released this, the suites were all gone within 20 days or so........we got lucky.

We would love to do the Panama Canal, but I think they are all during the school year and DDs are almost 13 and almost 10. We'll probably have to wait a few years. :(

My Freedom cruise is in January.  So for the longest time I had the longest wait til my next cruise.  So someone would post 3 days to our cruise or something like that I would say only 500 more days or so.  Now you are March of 2008, so I am going a couple months before you and that's how I have you beat.  :D ;)
