Thanks!

BAMA I'll take lots of pics, as usual.

Any trip is better than sitting here at my desk doing work.  I have to do employee reviews before I go :vomit:

It doesn't help  that my mind is already in vacation mode...

Then I'm sure you're feeling generous when you're doing those reviews!

ARGG!  I pulled my back and am in serious pain right now.  No, I wasn't trying to lift my suitcase.  Much more mundane.  I was standing up from using the toilet.  I hope the meds work quickly!

trying to pay attention to the debate, but it I can't.  the vp debate was much more fun to watch!

Two words:  massage therapy.  Go, hurry!

I didn't used to be a believer but with my daughter so heavily into athletics and coming home with the worst knots in a back that I have ever felt, it's amazing the relief she gets from even one session with a qualified massage therapist.

Unfortunatly I dont' think massage will work. I think it is a disk problem or sciatica. It is nerve pain, not muscle. Thanks for the tip though! I'd love to get a massage to relieve the stress!

Have fun Tim! Are they replacing the Monarch with another ship?

No plans yet. Our RCI rep tells us it will be a while. This really sucks because we have a lot of clients that prefer RCI for the 3-4 day cruises.

On the positive side, because this is the last 3 day out of San Pedro, we have a HUGE CC Meet & Mingle and one of the members (rubbrick) got us in a private party with officers and crew!

Yes I know RCI doesn't do Meet & Mingles for 3 day cruises, but they are for this one. ;)

Well this sucks!  http://www.usatoday.com/weather/hurricane/2008-10-08-norbert-hurricane_N.htm?csp=34

RCI is telling us we are still good to go for now.

Thanks Dennis. The Spirit is a great ship and I am sure you will enjoy her. I also love sailing out of San Diego. It is so easy getting in and out.

Should be a special evening in NYC

A New York send-off for QE2
8/10/2008

On Oct. 16, Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth 2 will bid farewell to America with its 706th and final call to New York.

Escorted by fireboats and pleasure craft, the liner will depart the Westside Terminal at 5 p.m. to meet Queen Mary 2 at the Statue of Liberty as both vessels embark on a tandem voyage to Southampton, marking QE2’s 806th and final Atlantic crossing.
'It is most fitting that QE2’s farewell to America be celebrated in New York, the city Cunard has called our North America homeport since 1847,' said Cunard president Carol Marlow.
During QE2's arrival in the early morning of Oct. 16, she will fly a traditional Paying-Off Pennant, a maritime flag signifying the ship’s length of service to the fleet. The pennant will be presented as a commemorative gift to a local dignitary during a reception on board.
Thousands of well-wishers are expected to gather at New York harbor viewing locations such as Battery Park, Robert F. Wagner Jr. Park, The Esplanade and Hudson River Park. A pipe and drum corps will perform in Battery Park as a salute.

Is one (or both) of these figures (706th, 806th) wrong or have 100 of the QE2's Atlantic crossings not been to/from New York?  Just wondering!

I think that is right. Take a quick look at this link. It shows crossings that ended in Boston, started in Baltimore or Fort Lauderdale

It does seem strange. Who knows if the number is rignt but we do know she made a number of crossings that did not include NYC.

I'll for sure take some, but I have SO many pictures in old shoe boxes and cardboard containers......I'm getting tired of take so many.  I never have the time to put them into pic albums, either..........
But since this will be the last sailing on the QE 2, I do want to go around the ship and take some interior photo's.

You need to go digital, Nipper. SO much easier to organize, and no more boxes full of pics. :big grin:
