Me, too!!!!!!! Ans yes, those big mega-strollers are a danger to other people! Especially the double ones that are 2-wide! Especially at the mall around X-Mas time!
those things are the stupidest things ever invented, i think.
forget having them on a ship, that definitely doesn't work, but they don't even work on land!
ever see these people trying to navigate a store, or god forbid try to get thru a door?
on my december cruise we were overrun with the seniors and their hover-rounds, or whatever they are. there were soooo many of those things onboard. and the people were zipping all over. now, them you really had to watch, lol -- b/c they'll run ya right over.

Yes!!! They should be taken out by the parents. The ship should not even have to get involved but sorry parents that do not teach their children manners or how to behave in public will always be around.
I have 2 children and I have to say we have never had an issue with them. However, we never pushed them when they were tired and cranky. I refuse to waste my money and have my kids misbehave while out to dinner.

No flaming from me, I'm a parent, but not selfish.

Amen to that! Too many parents try to be their child's friend. Save it for when they're adults. They'll appreciate it and you much more.
Our oldest still remembers "the look" she'd get if she was getting out of line. She straightened up fast and was the easiest of my two to raise. I think she'll be a good parent if she ever has any kids.
And Cindy, no flaming from me either!

Yes the PARENT or GUARDIAN should be in control of this. Problem is they are NOT in control and this is why things like this happen. People are AFRAID to discipline their children in public for fear of being reported to authorities! Zero tolerance = zero sense. There, I said it!

THAT is precisely why I broke up with a guy I was dating about 10 years ago! He was raising a kid that behaved just like that-I was SO mortified to go anywhere with them. Of course, people would look at me, assuming he was MY child. It got to the point that the minute he started acting like that, I would walk out of the store or restaurant!
One of the only times that I was the one to call things off! It did give me a little insight about what men must go through when they date women with children. . .

Several years ago my Dad dated a woman with a child like that. (Sis and I thought he was absolutely, certifiably NUTS for dating a woman with a school-age child, anyway. ) The relationship abruptly ended when they were out to dinner one night, the kid started acting like that, and Dad blithely suggested they should duct-tape him to the leg of the table.

"Should fussy, crying misbehaving children be removed from the dining table?"
Why, of COURSE not. They should be allowed to express themselves as they
wish.
Should their assinine parents be removed for allowing this bad behaviour?
Yes. , and the parents should be kicked off
the ship at the next port, leaving other passengers to raise their children.

From this morning's news: Woman and her four children are kicked off a SW Airlines flight for disruptive behavior -- http://www.kirotv.com/news/16803334/detail.html.
Somehow I think there's more to this story... wish there was video of the incident(s) in question!

You know if the behavioral issues start at home:

How do you expect them to behave in public?

I saw that story. The kids were wild. The mother admitted that they were out of control.

One kid is autistic and one has cerebral palsy and the other two she has no excuse for
The autistic child should have been on medication for the flight .Without a doubt he needed to be sedated .I assume that he was very agitated and out of control .It is her responsibility to make sure that her child could handle the flight Not just for the other passengers but how about her child and his well being .It sounds like the airline was afraid for the safety of the other passengers. It angers me to see this because no child that has a disability as this should be put in situations that basically makes them act out and pretty much must make them miserable. And look if she isn't going to properly take care of an autistic child why would she ever bother with the other two who are fine.
Believe me I sympathize with any parent who has not one but two children with disabilities but this looks like an out of control situation .A parent of a child with this type of disability has to go the extra mile work a little harder be on top of the situation .Not easy but as a parent this is your job Not every kid is perfect and some have more flaws than others but Bottom line they are yours and you love and take care of them every minute of the day.
All blame falls on this mother and since she is using their disabilities as an excuse or to make her case of poor us look what they did she has opened up a whole other can of worms.
She had no business flying with a child who could not handle a flight in the first place. Not even going to go into why I think the other two were out of control
I am done:smiley:

Two children with disabilities, especially CP and Autism, can be a real handful. With it also being the first flight for the children, I can only imagine what happened. I suspect the truth, as always, lies somewhere between the story of the family and the one given by the airline.

Looked good to me Lee!
You know, whether you work with the disabled or they're members of your family, they give you a whole new perspective on life. It can be difficult at times, but their achievements, no matter how small, are the reward. The mother in question could use a great deal of guidance, but probably won't be aware of or take advantage of the resources available. How sad for the children.
