We were midship, so I'm not sure. I did see at least 3 go over with certainty they were cigarettes. The dipsticks were two cabins down from us. My husband almost said something out loud to them. Since we weren't married until the 4th day of the cruise, I stopped him. I didn't want to get married in the "brig"!

I had considered that possibility at first but these definately looked like cigarette ashes and when the cigarette butts showed up it kind of confirmed it

While we have never cruised on Celebrity, we recently had a bad experience while on th 5/11/08 Norwegian Pearl cruise to Alaska. We were in a deck 9 aft balcony cabin. The people on deck 10 above us were apparently smokers. Every day we walked onto our balcony tofind that we had to wipe ashes and cigarette butts from the deck chairs and balcony before we could even enjoy the balcony. I am an ex-smoker myself( 25 yrs ago) and know the need to have a smoke but too many people don't keep in mind the discomfort that they may bring to others close by or below them. I guess the rules about not tossing smoking materials overboard don't apply to some people.
Are you saying they threw "lit" cigarettes over the balcony? Or do you think it might have been an ashtray blowing over? Not that either one is particularily nice - but I can't see people being so callous as to toss a lit cigarette over the side - not that it hasn't happened, but really, on a daily basis? I'd be calling the room steward and having that crap taken care of.

They also could have blown from the aft of the top deck...
Personally (at this point in my life, anyway) I wouldn't cruise on Celebrity because of the policy -- I'd scare everyone walking in my jammies to the outside deck in the middle of the night!
