Kathy do you know the best way to figure out the detours? We do not have a GPS.
follow the really, really long line of cars......
Really, now why did I not think of that?  I was wondering if there might be a better detour map somewhere. If we had a GPS we could try another way verses the detour. Some times those are horrible.

I really am beyond exhausted. I keep reminding myself I am going to be in a car for over 8 hours soon and will have plenty of rest. I normally sleep or read because I can not stand watching Jeff drive. His drivies scares me. Plus he hates to hear me complain.
Unfortunately I am not cruising until Next March!!! At least now it is less than a year away..... But I do have two Vegas trips planned - one over July 4th for fun and one the last week in August for business (sorta). So at least I will get a break. But I sure do miss those cruises that are NOT on my calendar....
I looked and looked for a deal but the deals are all on dates when I can't vacation.
My brother lives in Vegas. I finally went out with a bunch of friends last summer. Jeff could not get off of work to go. I had a blast. Of course I got to know the bartenders in one of the bars in the hotel. My friend took longer to get ready than I did so I would go to the bar and sit.
We have a few things planned for the spring, summer and fall. Wuold love to go back out to Vegas but we promised to do some other things prior to realizing the funds were not there for all of the things we wanted to do.
I have the same problem - time and money.....now if I were independently wealthy....
I seem to have this problem too.

I am getting anxious to leave. I work until 2 and then have a meeting. I am really hoping to beat the Charlotte major rush. The meeting will not last long and Jeff is to have the car ready and waiting. I should be home by 2:45 and hit the road by 3. I know the traffic is not grand at 4 in Charlotte but better than hitting it at 5.
I take it you are coming down 85? I work about 1 mile off 85 in Kannapolis. I will tell you that this stretch does get backed up most days it seems...even as early as 4. From about exit 58 to exit 55 so it's not much. Will just slow you down a bit.
And be glad that you aren't coming through Friday or Sat night with the race stuff going on.
85 is a pain in the bum. We did go down 85 and were lucky that we did not hit any traffic until 77 on the other side of Charlotte. We were able to leave early enough last week to not hit 77 until 4:00. So no real issue on 85.
We hate driving back on 85 after a Panther game. YUCK!! We have even gone the long way home up 77 to 40.

I have never written a review in my life. I do not even know how to begin..(waiting on comments for those typed words, Wog where are you?)
Our travel was perfect. Our daughter and I drove the hubby mad at times. He hated the girl inside jokes or the fact we would talk about him and laugh. Really funny was when we were crossing thru JAX last Wednesday night and we were texting one another to make fun of him. lol
I took way too many clothes, as usual and I was even careful this time and took stuff out. There is NO way I am going to over pack in November for the Pride. lol I probably will not pack much more than I did this time. lol
I am still dizzy from the ship. Kind of like when I get drunk and the room spins but no alcohol is involved. lol Does anyone want to make comments on the fact I am a blonde??? lol
Almost sent you a text to tell you all was good on the drive but was unsure of your bedtime or if you have text capcity.

I am glad you had a great trip!! believe it or not I don't have text capability. I have a blackberry for work so I have never needed it - and my youngest uses it enough for both of us.
The Pride was my first cruise ever!! I will be back on the Pride next March sailing from Long Beach to Miami!! I am sure I won't overpack for that trip either - 14 days! Yikes. The only thing that will save me is that I have to fly to the port - for the first time ever.....
I kept checking the roads. Glad they were opened for your journey. I bet you could still smell the smoke tho.....

Yes, Jeff made several comments about the smell of smoke. It really broke our heart to know that their are wild fires again.
