I carry the hand sanitizer with me and we have some sitting in the middle of our department for everyone to use. Don't want to get the crud now! Three of the eight people in my department are or have been sick in the last couple of weeks already.

I of all people know this BUT..... I did get slightly sick from my flu shot this year.... (said very quietly)
Statistically the experts say "poo poo that doesn't happen", but I did have a slight fever, aching, and felt like a MAC truck had hit me, only for 24 hrs tho.
Probably all psychosomatic cause I didn't arrange or give the shot:shoot me:

Ya know...  you all can tell me how there is nothing medical to support this... blahblahblah........

But I have had the full blown Flu TWICE in my adult life - the throwing up, high fever, etc. flu....

AND those are the ONLY two years I have gotten a damned flu shot!!

Conspiracy??  :shoot me: :P

I have never had a flu shot.  Don't intend on getting them.  I have the flu once in my adult life.

AMEN, brother!  No shots for me, either. I think I've had the flu once or twice, but that's it.

And I wash my hands so often, the skin on my knuckles is cracking and splitting. :shoot me:

I have a compromised immune system (SLE) and have been advised not to get the flu shot. I wouldn't even if I could. What ever happened to developing natural immunities?

You can get ill from any sort of vaccination. The great majority of vaccines are made from attenuated strains of the virus they're intended to prevent. How can one say "Oh, you can't get sick from vaccines" when you are having the disease injected into your body? You sometimes have to wonder about those medical 'professionals'...sheesh... It IS a conspiracy I swear!! :D

I 'fired' my kids' first pediatrician when she tried to tell me that there was no way they could get sick from their vaccines. Small chance, but it can and does happen. My daughter got the chicken pox from the Varicella vaccine. Unfortunately it's required for school entrance here otherwise I would have bypassed that one.

Doesn't the flu shot only guess at what strains they might be seeing this year.  We will vaccinate you from A, B and C, but watch out for D and E and Bird.... those are bad ones that you won't be protected from.   I'm just not sure about this whole flu shot thing.

I agree totally. I have never had a shot or vaccine in my entire life. Never had any childhood immunizations.  My mother would write a note every year that I was NOT to have any shots by the school nurse.
I had measles, mumps & chicken pox as a child with no ill effects, either.

I know I had the chicken pox, not sure about measles, and no on the mumps. The only reason my kids were vaccinated was because, like Lora, they were required by the schools. I don't take any kind of medication other than an occasional Advil and the meds prescribed by my doctor. I rarely get sick.

style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #c6e1d7"They say people are too dependent these days on medication to keep them healthy. If they let their natural immunities build up, they might not need all those extra meds. It's a conspiracy by the big drug companies I tell ya!

Since 2000 the CDC has pushed state health departments to visit clinics and check their refrigerators. Most states require clinics to use refrigerators with reliable thermometers that can be monitored, and staff members must know what to do when temperatures are above or below the proper range, Rodewald said.
this is very true up here, we have overpaid nurses who do this job 5 days per week, but there are big gaps and loop holes to this, so is that vaccine in that fridge stored properly????? probably not 100% of the time.
Long term care homes do temps of fridge 2x per day, but I doubt a doctors office does it monthly if at all. Vaccines are BIG bucks and if spoiled, a huge cost to the tax payers!

I've been using soap and hand sanitizer on my hands like crazy this week. I hate being sick with a cold and having to work. Seems to be helping since my cold symptoms are getting less and less each day. Now I just need to find a good lotion for my poor chapped nose.

While I was on my Brilliance of the Seas cruise a couple weeks ago, I was very surprised to not see the hand sanitizers out in the Windjammer Cafe and at the entrance to the main dining room, like I saw the past 2 years:confused:

I asked someone about it, and they said something like "it was drying people's hands out too bad", and they had removed them.

:wtf:             I'd rather have dry hands than an outbreak of Norovirus.............

Has anyone else noticed this?

I was very surprised when on the Carnival Victory last September that there was nary a hand sanitizer to be found. The few around were of the "moist towelette" variety.

What do you think about it, Becky?  I can't imagine that if indeed that stuff was helping keep viruses down, why they would have discontinued it.
Maybe they found out it didn't really help after all??????

Any idea's?
