OK, everyone, for those of you that are fans of the boy wizard, what do you think will be his fate?  Who's going to die in the book?  JKRowlings can be pretty tricky sometimes, but she made a public comment that she cried her eyes out near the end of the last book.

I know I'm not going to like it, no matter who dies!  And I'm sad the books are coming to an end.  This has really been an ongoing family experience for my kids and myself, especially the youngest.  We've read all the books together, and gone to the movies together.

I'm guessing it will be Voldemort and Neville.  He was the other possible enemy in Voldemort's life, and I think Harry is just too obviously the one to be killed off.  I think Neville will show what he is made of, at the end.

You could very well be right. I know my kids are counting down until it's released. Matthew will be at Boy Scout camp, but Danielle and I are planning a movie that Friday night (she wants to see HairSpray). We may have to do a late movie so we are at the mall when it goes on sale at 12:01. May have to get there in the next week to "preorder" so I won't have to wait in line.:big grin:

I can't wait for this one to come out! I can't imagine killing off Harry. Maybe Voldemort and Hagrid? Neville is an interesting idea too.

I am stocking up on kleenex-I know we'll all be sniffling whoever it is!:(  My 16yo was stomping around the house for days yelling "I hate JK Rowlings!" when Dumbledore died!

Now that had me going too. Gotta love Dumbledore. Maybe he isn't really dead and he comes back in the last book. (I've been watching the Harry Potter movies on TV all weekend! LOL!) I've pre-ordered my book so just a while longer and we'll see!

Anybody that doesn't know THAT by now isn't really a Harry Potter fan-  I mean, that Dumbledore died. . ., that is!

I was hoping that, too, but JKR has stated quite firmly that that will not happen. . .but maybe Sirius will!

We've pre-ordered our books from B&N, too, and the girls are going to the last Harry Potter party at midnight there.  Ariel will read her book (probably within 24 hrs, and then read it to me, chapter by chapter, so I will have an agonizing wait, but that is how we have always done it, and she would be hurt if I read it on my own.

After reading the posts I think I agree that Hagrid is most likely to die.  He's been a central part of the storyline and is a beloved character, yet he isn't Harry, Ron or Hermione (and can any of us bear to imagine that one of these 3 would die?)!  So I'll throw in my hat behind the death of Hagrid, and of course "he who shall not be named" (LOL).  He HAS to die!

So let's all get our books, our drinks and our kleenex boxes ready!:wine:

That's a good idea Steph. I like to savor the story and not rush through it so it will take a few days for me to read all the way through.

You know, I never thought about Hagrid!  That would be devastaing!  But I wouldn't put it past her-she did, after all, kill off Dumbledore.  I do hate to think that this series is going to close on a sad note.  It will be hard no matter who dies.  And she has said herself she absolutely sobbed writing it-:(  (Pass the kleenex. . .I'm crying already. . .)

Same with me.  I have to wait until Ariel is done.  And I will have to watch her cry and yell when she gets to the bad parts where people die, and I'll be going what?  WHAT?  TELL ME!!!

Voldemort is Harry's real father/grandfather/close relative of some description
No, no, no, no, no. You lot have been watching much too much Star Wars. James is DEFINITELY Harry's father. Doesn't everybody Harry meets say 'you look just like your father'? And hasn't Dumbledore already told Harry that Voldemort is the last surviving descendent of Salazar Slytherin? Just to clarify - this means that Harry is NOT a descendent of Salazar Slytherin.

My son finished the book this afternoon and loved, loved, loved it!!!  He said he's still left wanting more though.

I'll admit it.  I read a synopsis online today so I know what happens but I'm still going to read it right after my daughter gets done with it.

I'm getting emotionally drained while my daughter laughs, cries, gasps during different parts of the book as I wait my turn. . .:(  Pretty soon I'm going to rip the book from her hands and start reading it myself!
