I finished the book last night. My first book with NO GLASSES!

What a friggin letdown.

I won't post any spoilers, but to me, the whole book seemed like a random string of thoughts. It was more like fanfic than an original Potter book.

We went to the release party and got the book. While Jarrod was running our friends home I read the last chapter (something I always do with any book) and thought it was the cheasiest way to end ANY book. The day the book title was released, Jarrod reserved a copy at the local library (he was number 150) so we were able to get an extra copy from them for me to read since I read much faster than he does.

Too many loose ends and too much randomness. Really, did we have to read entire chapters of others books (written by characters), letters etc to get the point? It's kinda like readin any post or email that *I* make! LOL

I was very disappointed in it. Especially since it's the last in the series.

Like 200 pages to the end she remembered it was the last book and started with a  whole new plotline and tying to end the book. Withought really ending any stories (to my satisfaction anyway)

We can't tell you yet. Steph and Cindy are waiting just to get their hands on the book. I'm only halfway through it.

Les, I'll compare notes with you when we all finish.

I haven't even started yet. Matthew is dragging his feet. But y'all can go ahead and talk about it and I'll just stay clear of this thread for a bit. Maybe I can steal it from him and read it this weekend.

Thanks... (my diabetes ribbon...right?). Danielle has one as her AIM avatar and I had to ask her where she found it. Then I googled Diabetes Ribbon and found a great one to use.

So what did you all think?  Did you like how it ended?  I thought it was somewhat predictable.  Like she didn't like the way it ended so she kept writing until she was happy again.

But I did like it.  I am sad there will be no more.  I always feel that way with a series.

I actually enjoyed the book. Like everyone else, I was wondering who would die because of all the pre-release hype. Once I finish the series I'm reading now, I'll probably go back and reread all the HP books.

I did enjoy it.  although in some areas I found it confusing.  Case in point was when Harry was following the Doe thru the woods.. and then Ron shows back up..

And Yes Stephanie you are correct.

A stupid question I know, but are the Harry Potter books a children's read, teen read or do they read for adults also?

dwrist wrote: A stupid question I know, but are the Harry Potter books a children's read, teen read or do they read for adults also?  :confused:I, along with many other adults, have read the series.  But then, again, I still read McCaffrey's series too.  I'd say that the books do "grow" with Harry - they get a little more complex as you read, but for someone who does a lot of reading, it's a very easy read.  Nothing like trying to get through Jordan's Eye of the World series, or the Lord of the Rings series (I won't even try that last one - too much for me).

I'd probably put it about in the same reader range as McCaffrey's books, maybe.  Anyone else with different/similar thoughts??

(I guess, to sum it all up, probably a teen read, but okay for all.)

Even though the subjects in the books are kids, I wouldn't call it a childrens book.  Lots of scarey stuff for those younger than 4th or 5th grade. in my opinion.  I think people of different ages will have different reactions to stuff going on.  That is what made it such a good series.  And why she is the richest woman in GB right now!

I commute about a hour each way to work.. so I listen to them on audio books.. My 8 year old likes listening to them.. but doesn't quite understand some of the words.. especially after book 4 (Goblet of Fire), that is when JK Rowling, started using SAT rated vocabulary.

Now my 8 yr old is running around the hose being Harry Potter.. LOL..

I've very much enjoyed the series. They're entertaining, an easy read and really hard to put down.

I finally finished the last book!  Truly enjoyed it, but was left with a sense that it was incomplete, with that epilogue at the end.  Like, what happened to so and so, etc.  Just seemed as though she rushed to finish it.

I got to agree.. but after Lord Voldmort was killed off, there was no real reason to continue.  Unless you think rounding up the death eaters would be interesting.???

No, but I kind of wanted to know what happened to a couple of characters and their baby (don't want to say names yet) Wondering if Harry managed to clear things up by talking to the last head master of hogwarts through the photos on the wall-things of that nature.

Maybe she will eventually write another book.  At first she said no, but now hasn't ruled that out entirely.  I think it will be a long time coming, though.
