Here it is! The Wheel of Darkness by Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child
Release date: 8/28/07
Book Description
Pendergast has taken Constance on a whirlwind Grand Tour, hoping to give her closure and a sense of the world that she's missed. They head to Tibet, where Pendergast intensively trained in martial arts and spiritual studies. At a remote monastery, they learn that a rare and dangerous artifact the monks have been guarding for generations has been mysteriously stolen. Pendergast agrees to take up the search. The trail leads him and Constance to the maiden voyage of the Queen Victoria, the world's largest and most luxurious passenger liner--and to an Atlantic crossing fraught with terror.

How funny! I just got that book from the library last week! I'm reading Step on a Crack by James Patterson right now, and then Deep Storm is next!!!!!
My favorite female character so far is Voila Maskelene. She sounds so beautiful and classy. I wonder if she and Pendergast will ever get together?
****SPOLIER ALERT***** Don't read any further if you have not read the ending of the Book of the Dead yet!!!!!!!!
{pssst........isn't Constance pregnant with Diogenes' baby????}

Oh, yeah! I forgot about that!
Now that you rattled my memory, yes! Viola Maskelene is by far the most interesting (living ) female character. Now that Diogenes is gone I expect her and Pendergast to get together.

Those are good books, aren't they?!? My first was Book of the Dead, but then I went back and read the whole series. There's supposed to be a new one out in August -- can't wait!!!
I hadn't heard about this! I can hardly wait!

Deb & Catnip ~
I propose we form the FOPs (Friends of Pendergast) and cruise to celebrate the release of the new book! Anyone feel like cruising out of NYC at the end of August?

Now wouldn't that be fun! I'm cruising in October so I probably couldn't squeeze another one in before that. We can still be the FOP!

What a terrific idea!!!!!!!! I'm all for it!!!!!
A kind of "fan club" for adults!!!!! How exciting!
I would love a cruise the end of Aug, but my DH and I already have a meeting we're going to in Sept over in Croatia, so a cruise that close to the meeting probably won't work. Bummer!
But, like Deb said, we could still be FOPs!!!!!!!! :toocool:
Becky,
Think about the 1st annual CTT cruise for May 08!!!!!!!

Aren't we a bunch of busy people! DH and I are going to Hawaii in June '08, so I won't be able to make the CTT cruise. BUMMER.

Okay, I got this one in e-mail from one of my girlfriends! LOL
Walter the Farting Dog Goes on a Cruise
It’s a fabulous floating palace, and everybody on it is having the time of their life…until a mysterious and terrible odor begins to permeate the splendid ship. What can this awful odor be? All signs point to Walter, and so he is banished down below, with the stinky cheeses.Walter doesn’t mind—at least he has something to snack on. But not even the cheese room can contain Walter’s powerful farts. So they lower him onto a lifeboat, and he is forced to travel alone behind the ocean liner. Then catastrophe strikes! The liner loses its power. How long will the great cruise ship and its frightened passengers be marooned on the high seas? About as long as it takes Walter to digest that cheese….

Oddly enough, I bought this book. My niece's husband is obsessed with bodily functions...gets a kick out of anything to do with farting, etc. They have a 2 1/2 year old daughter. Well the three of them went with us on a cruise in December so I saw that book in the bookstore just before the cruise and HAD to buy it for them. I must admit, however, that I was horrified when I realized it was $16.95!! But it was still worth it...it was a cute and funny book and enjoyed by all.

James Patterson's Alex Cross series:
Who do you think would be the perfect actor to play Alex Cross???
I see that Morgan Freeman played Alex first in "Kiss the Girls" (1997), then again in "Along Came a Spider" (2001) -- even though they reversed the order of the books.
It seems obvious to me that we need someone faaaaaar more youthful than Morgan Freeman to play Alex! How about... Christopher Judge?!?
~ Becky
P.S. I'm on "Kiss the Girls" now. Finished "Along Came a Spider" a couple of weeks ago.

I like a good "can't put it down" book. Who's the author? What's it about?

| Glass Castle is done. I'm glad I read it, it was very good, and couldn't put it down. BUT it is a disturbing book, and I can't figure out why I couldn't put it down. Its' sad, but one full of thought, conflict and depressing. But very real.
