I just got Step on a Crack from the library!!!!! Haven't started it yet though.......just started Hannibal Rising!!!!!!!
I also like Jeffrey Deaver!!! I have read most of his books, but my favorite is The Blue Nowhere! It rocks!
I am also a big fan of John Sandford's novels...........Lucas Davenport sounds like a hunk!
I'm not sure I read the Blue Nowhere. I'll have to read the back of it to remember. I've read a bunch of his, but I'm not good at titles.

I just finished Janet E's Motor Mouth. Once again, all of her books are fun, but I prefer the Plum series. That Ranger is just too hot. I read the entire numbered series in a row and my hubby was very sorry when it was over because it kept me frisky reading about Ranger! He still asks when her next book is coming out.
I also recently read John Sandford's Dead Watch. Having enjoyed his "Prey" series, I thought I would like it. I was surprised to find it was a political thriller...but it was still a good read, even if not my usual style.
Next up to read is Jeffrey Deaver's The Cold Moon. Has anyone read that one yet?
Lastly, Deb, I read those trashy time travel novels too! I love Regency Romances as my brainless escapes and when I can find one combined with time travel, I love it even more.
There's nothing like a time travel trashy romance! Love those things! I finished Brother Odd and started Cussler's Treasure of Khan last night. I have been less than impressed with some of his collaborative efforts, but so far this one has me!
I'm going to have to make a list from all the recommendations here so I'll have something to check out next time I go to the bookstore.
I think Janice Bennett writes some of the best time travel romances. My very favorite is one by her...can I remember the name? I think it was something like Timeless Love or something else typical. But it was a Christmas one and the heroine turns over a snowglobe and goes back into time, falls in love with a writer. Does it sound familiar to you? If not, I will search around the house and see if I can find the name for you.

I did. Straaaaange!
Denise, I don't remember author's names. I look for the insignia on the books that usually print those types of books.

You would ask me that! I'm thinking it's a very pointy star, but it could be something else. I'll have to look.
I could only find a couple on a quick search. They were published by Berkley with a bold B on the upper spine.

I looked on my shelves and found a couple. The one I said was my alltime favorite is called a Christmas Keepsake by Janice Bennett. I also have one called Timeless which is made up of four short novellas by Linda Lael Miller, Diana Bane, ANna Jennet and Elaine Crawford. Lastly, I just finished a pretty good one called Then and Now by Willa Hix. Hope this helps!

Deb ~
I'd like to start the Alex Cross series, but I can't figure out which is the first in the story arc! I've got Along Came a Spider -- is that it?
Thanks!

I am up to Cross (reading it now). She has just finished Step on a Crack.
Enjoy.

I've been on a historical mystery jag ever since DaVinci Code. (Angels & Demons was a much better book.) I've read a few by Steve Berry (The Third Secret, The Templar Legacy and currently reading The Alexandria Link) and The Templar Legacy by Raymond Khoury.
I've also been working my way through everything by Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child, both collectively and singularly. My point of entry to their novels was the Agent Pendergast stories. Good reads! Next up is Tyrannosaur Canyon by Douglas Preston.
Lastly, I've read just about everything recent by Michael Crichton. Just finished Airframe a few weeks ago, and am waiting to invest in a HB of Next, as soon as I get my "To Be Read" shelf cleared off (including Along Came a Spider, which will hopefully start me down the Alex Cross path). Maybe the PB of Next will be out by then...

We think alike! Love the Dan Brown books and probably should try Steve Berry's too. Preston and Childs together are some of my favorites. Very hard to put down. I may have to give their individual endeavors a shot. I have Next in HB, but only because it was on sale after Christmas and I had 3 gift certificates to the bookstore! Just working through all those books I got, then it's back to picking out a batch of new ones!

We also like the Jeffrey Deaver books and the Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child books. We also read lots of the Patricia Cornwell books. They were quick reads.
A few years ago I read The Alienist and The Angel of Darkness by Caleb Carr. I thought that they were great.
My wife reads a lot. I will have her join in on this book conversation sometime to give her recommendations.

| BTW, Raymond Khoury's The Templar Legacy seemed to be a popular read on our last Dawn cruise (12/28-1/5) -- I saw several other people reading it, too!

A book that I read about 8 years ago remains my favorite. It is called "The Eight" and is by Katherine Neville. I have read it at least half a dozen times---I just love it!

New York City, December 1972: Musician, painter, dabbler in mathematics and chess, Catherine Velis is also a computer expert for a Big Eight accounting firm. Before she heads off to a new assignment in Algeria, Cat has her palm read by a mysterious fortune teller who warns her of danger. Then an antiques dealer approaches Cat with an offer: His anonymous client is trying to collect the pieces of a very old chess service, purported to be in Algeria. If Cat can bring them back, there will be generous fees for both of them....
The South of France, Spring 1790: Mireille de Remy and her cousin Valentine are young novices at the fortress-like Montglane Abbey. With France aflame with revolution, the two girls burn to rebel against constricted convent life--and their means of escape is at hand. Buried deep within the walls and floor of the abbey are pieces of the Montglane Chess Service, once owned by Charlemagne. Whoever reassembles the pieces can play the Game--a game of unlimited power. But to keep the Game a secret from those who would abuse it, the two young women must scatter the pieces throughout the world....
"This is a Quest with something for everyone: ancient curses from the Fertile Crescent; Russian chess masters; sexy, savvy American computer whizzes; Napoleon and Robespierre; brave nuns; valiant Jewish diamond merchants; magic numbers; secret hiding places; the music of the spheres.
In other words, Katherine Neville's big adventure novel is great fun!"
--Susan Isaacs
"Daring, original, and moving, it seems destined to become a cult classic....Astonishing
fantasy-adventure, a thoroughly accomplished first novel....Neville has great fun rewriting history and making it all ring true. With two believable heroines, nonstop suspense, espionage, murder, and a puzzle that seems the key to the whole Western mystical tradition, this spellbinder soars above the level of first-rate escapist entertainment."
