Now I know I'm really going to a beach... started the tanning tonight.... ah that felt good. It rolled me back to 4 years ago... my last real fake tan. I guess it's the lotion smell that brings back the memories. Should've put this into the perfume and nostalgia thread.
Has anyone used the Mystic Tan?
Yes, I know that tanning is not good for you, and I agree it's not good, but once in awhile I love it. Besides you look slimmer with colour.

I've tanned twice in my life. Once when I won a package through a school raffle and the other right before we cruised! I'm so glad I did. I somehow came away feeling a bit more attractive for having some color. No one on the ship should be subjected to the glare from my pasty white, Midwestern winter skin! :big grin:

Fish belly??? how about artic snow white.... but I usually am...I just need some pink or tan added to the old face and it makes me look healthier.
And I just can't get that tanless lotion or towels to work right..... STREAKS.
Can you choose the colour of the Mystic Tan or does it just shoot out in one shade?

Oh man, I tried Mystic Tan twice -- never again.

It was like being in a car wash and being in there butt nekked and then that

fire hose spraying that tinted vegetable matter all over my alabaster bod --:big grin::lmao1:

and of course I didn't turn around in time and got sprayed unevenly,

and it all wore off within 3 days.

I like the Banana Boat stuff out of the tube.  I have better luck when using it.

I used to care about a little color -- now I'm glad I never abused my body

with excessive tanning salons.  I'm proud to be pasty white.  I used to be

embarassed, but it's just too much trouble to tan and I don't like age spots.

I used the Banana Boat in bottle, must look for the tube.
Used the L'Oreal mitts..... what a mess.....hahahaahah:confused:
I really would like to get some colour, without the fakenbake. Maybe I could get the old boy to put the colour on after my minutes are up. Heck, we don't do anything all day.... maybe I could get him to be my personal spa person.....massages, tanning, hair, pedicure... He could become my Spa Bitch...and when we're out in the hot tub.....my Pool Boy....

Shelia, I tried a spray last year that I liked.....Banana Boat Gradual Spray. It didn't have the funny fake tan smell. Instead, it smells like limes. I used every three days to acheive the color I wanted and then it lasted about a week. I think I got it for about $8.00 a Wal Mart.

Here's a secret to get the orange streaks off....rubbing alcohol! Yes, it will dry out your skin but it will get most of it off in not all. If you rub it with a cotton ball, you will see it turn orange.

Baking soda will work too, but don't expect a miracle in a day. Put some on a washcloth or a loofah and rub it in or take a baking soda bath. It will exfoliate as well, speeding up the process.

Or there is this stuff, but the baking soda is probably cheaper:

I have heard that you should put baking soda onto half a lemon and rub it on your skin.  I have no idea if it works or not but it could be worth a try.

I do the fake n bake before every vacation.  I have blond hair and blue eyes and while I don't burn, I will get a rash if my skin is not used to the heat.  I call it conditioning my skin.  I usually go twice a week for 5-7 minutes in the lowest wattage bed for about 4 weeks before I leave. I very gradually get a bit of color.  It's all about moderation....and moisturizing.  I have had really bad experiences in the beds in my younger years, staying too long and getting a really bad rash so I do proceed with caution.

It's also a bit of mental therapy for me.  Apparently, we Canadians are desperately short of vitamin D due to lack of exposure to the sun.  The beds help raise your seratonin levels which will help fight off SAD.  I need my little pick me up starting the end of January....it's either that or :drink:

To maintain my tan when I return from vacation, I use  the tanning moisturizer for fair skin by Dove, usually just once a week and only on my face and chest.  Nobody sees the rest and the hands are just impossible to do properly.

Good luck!

i recently started going to a tanning salon for the first time in my life.  i was able to get my white bathing suit this year (last year, they were all gone :(), and i wanted to keep the color from my dec cruise and feb fla vacation, as well as get rid of all tan lines, so that when i put on this suit, i will not look like a glass of milk.

i haveta say, there is definitely something to be said for getting a tan in 12 minutes (it does the back, front and sides all at the same time!), as opposed to 8 hours in the sun.  once you see the results, the time thing alnoe can become addicting.

i have only gone a handful of times, the first for 8 mins, then, 9, then 10, then 12.

i like that my tan lines are completely gone, and that my butt and everywhere else is brown with no lines, lol.

i am spacing this out to every other week, so i won't overdo it, but boy...it is tempting to go every week.

...............................................er..sorry was lost in a mental image there for a minute..

Don't ya find that you feel better overall as well...especially in the dreary winter..  We seem to have an extreme number of cloudy days in the winter and tanning seems to make up for it a little.   I never thought I would find myself doing it but it is kind of addicting.
