Only on CTT could a tanning thread turn into this .

I just love it

Years and years ago they would let my DH and myself go together. The rooms were about the size of a large  dressing room with the bed and a chair   .

Today I don't ever go on tanning beds

Standing booths only ;)

We now return you to your regularly scheduled tanning discussion. :P

I have never used a tanning bed. Just didn't appeal to me. I've had way too many sunburns over the years so these days I'm more careful about that and get my tan naturally from being outside . . . with sunscreen. ;)

That works great if you have a lot of sunny days and a lot of time.  We are "blessed" here with being one of the areas with the greatest number of cloudy days per year.  And..it's easier for me to find 20 minutes to lay in a tanning bed than it is finding an hour or so to lay outside.

Just works for me...to each his(her) own. :P

I'm the official "yardwork" person, so I get time whether I want it or not.

I was born and raised in a beach community in Fla, and my mom loves the beach and loves to lay out and tan. So, I was raised going to the beach every weekend and staying from 10am-4pm swimming and sunning and having a great time.
Then, when tanning beds came into existence, I thought that was really great! I went to a tanning salon for about 10 years, I guess.  I loved to tan "commando" and not have any tan lines!
:big grin:

But, being blonde haired and green-eyed with fair skin, I had to really work at it to maintain a tan.  But I don't regret any of those years, because at the time, I looked great and had a blast doing it!! :coolguy:
But now, I am paying for all those years in the sun.  I don't think I even wore sunscreen till I was in my 30's!  In high-school, the big thing was baby oil with iodine........:shoot me:

I develeoped my first basal cell skin cancer 4 years ago (on my forehead) and had it surgically removed. Then, a few months ago, my Dermatologist found the 2nd skin cancer (just above my eyebrow) and I had to have another surgery.

So, if you are light-skinned with fair hair and eyes, please be careful and use sunscreen.  I don't tan anymore, for obvious reasons, and I hate my white legs!! EEK!!!   I'm sure glad capri pants & Bermuda shorts are in style now!!!
:holymoly:
