O, I understand completely.  I am sure she hates my a$$.  I don't hate her;  I just think what happened was avoidable and sad.

Ok now this makes sense of some of the reasons why CTT was started and continues to be run the way it is. JC, maybe this little phrase of yours should be shared with more on the CTT better thread.

You Norweenies are lucky you have only had a single and highly predictable $hitstorm.  The CC darkside "You Vill Do Vhat Ve Vant Or You Vill Be Punished" $hitstorm.  The founders and many of the charter members have been trying to get this particular experiment right for a long long time.  I have lived thru more than one major $hitstorms.  All involved horribly hurt feelings and hard feelings, one that completely caused the meltdown of an entire forum, and another that basically froze the growth of a forum to a tiny fringe forum.  When this forum began it was started with a basic understanding that we were not going to dwell on the past failures and the recriminations that were felt on all sides.  I like to think we took the highroad, and we didn't speak of these other forums and people in public.  If you note my signature it says two things: 1 the o-crew which was the first rebellion from CC that I think took place in either 2002 or 2003, and the second about let's get it right this time which is my statement about the past.  Some of us from $hitstorm #2 that suffered together like Steph and I through it, and she for far longer than I, feel a bit free to discuss the unpleasant past since the plug was officially pulled on that experiment.  That said.  I still don't feel comfortable stating names and deeds because while they failed they tried, and in the case of the second actually had a chance until the ego got involved.  I can't tell you how difficult it has been here to keep ego out of it.  I, actually, am very outspoken (very, very, very) however because I love this experiment I control myself here.

I was talking more of the philosophy of the context of your post. No naming or criticism of other boards/people. See the red.

I say again, Thanks for all the hard work, thinking, discussion and effort that you and others have put in to the start-up and of maintaining the status of "a damn good board". I think your post puts into perspective those standards, regulations and the aim of the board.

Does any of this make sense? Or am I being a woman that can't make her thought known?

Yes, I understood you, but I told you I tend to talk to much.  I was just trying to give a little context.  On the other thread the noobs pointed out that there is a lot of cliques here and again I was just providing context.

We need to put more structure and rules in place or we need to exercise maturity and restraint.  I am trying to keep the positive thought that we can do it without becoming another place with a long list of rules.  I really think that we can, and I am going to fight to keep it simple.

Here are the rules be nice and if you can't you may be selectively spanked, but just because a single person does something unpleasant I hope we never have to punish all of the members.  Because when we get to the legalistic level that most forums get to then the community is gone.  Life ain't fair, but if you try you can survive and thrive.  If you don't strive to try is it my problem if you die? :big grin:

Couldn't agree more and no its not our problem if others choose to ignore rules and hence cause their own death. :big grin:

Tonight was the FIRST time since Monday that I was even able to get onto CTT.  It's been the total white screen of death for me since the beginning of the week.

This is on 3 different computers and checking periodically (ok like every hour - I have no life) through out the day at home and work.

I hope I don't get kicked off again. I had problems then it was better Monday and then WHAM, total access denied.  I felt like I was BANNED from CTT.  :P

Hope that nightmare is over. :shoot me:

Glad to see you're back with us Grace! Some people are still having some problems and we are working on getting the responsible party to get their problem fixed so ours will be fixed!

I am back online. It does not mean the problem is fixed. I believe there are still some blocks of IP addresses that are being blockede thanks to Dave (ristallnight).

The key was to reset while disconnected from the  eth cables to flush all the IPs. I had reset everything severaal times but never rebooted disconnected.

Hey, Jim... Comcast always makes me feel kinda foolish when they turn out to be correct, so just asking again....
Did you disconnect your eth cables, reset your modem, reset your router, then plug in the cables and reset the modem and router again?
Just a thought!!! :

I've passed this info about disconnecting and resetting on to one member who is still having problems getting in. Thanks for posting this!

Apparently not, brother.  I have heard that some drastic steps may be taken by the end of the month.  It has been working for me perfectly after a 4 day time out.  It sucks.  It will get fixed somehow.  Sorry dude.

If you did not understand let me know I can provide more details. No idea why it worked but it did. You have to disconnect your cable mdem from the network (remove ethernet cable that goes to the cable company from the modem) reboot (powerdown and power up) the modem while it is disconnected. Power it down again and reconnect and power up. Then bring up your router (if you have one) and finally power up your PC.

well it is approaching the unwieldly size that seems to be a constant problem with the forum.  Maybe you should start an FU thread part deux.  Then we can have someone lock the old one.
