| I'm not looking to get an e-mail notification for new posts but I was wondering how to tell which threads I have participated in? Is it the fire ball? Also, I take it that the green arrow means a new post in the thread - correct?

To find threads you've posted in, click on your user name, profile, posts. There will be a list of every thread you've participated in since day 1. Fire means it's a hot topic.
Yes, the green arrow is for new posts since you last read a thread. It could be one or more new posts. The arrow will take you to the first one and you read from there.
