| I believe it was President Lincoln who said "You can please some of the people all of the time, all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time." Such is life.

The other thing to do on the roll calls(if not done yet) is to change all the post titles to the desired format then it will be obvious to all but the thickest(cc) poster what the title should look like.
If we did that, I can almost guarantee that there'd be plenty of unhappy people complaining about how we changed the title of "their" thread and want it changed back!
And the reason we changed it was because someone compained about how hard it was to find a particular sailing.........and the Mods agreed. It really was difficult with so many differnet thread titles........some had ships name first, some had sail date first....etc. This way it will be the same and will be easier to find, I think.
It ir obvious that with a consistant format roll calss will be easier to find but if you don't make the changes it will take a year for the changes to filter in and make a difference.
If someone moans just put a thread tiltle that is in the correct format and let the cruisers decide which thread they want
Or why not splt the boards to Cruise Line/Ship if the Idea is to make the threads easy to find, optionaly prepend existing titles with a sortable date format(thats not US format).
Just checked out the "popular" tab and nearly two pages of not very popular sticky/important threads, why not just have an "important" tab and have the "popular "recent" tabs do what they say they do.

We would love to split them by ship under each cruise line, but being a smaller board, we do not have that capability. Trust me, it was suggested.
As for the recent tab, I can scroll past the stickys with one flick of my finger. I don't see what's so hard about that for everyone else.

Yeah..me no likey the sticky!
Ok guys... here's the deal.... the recent tab is good for 7 days (to the day/hour/minute.... go to page 3 of your recent tab and look at that very last post).
I am "suspecting" that this is true for announcements/stickies ALSO (simply because I don't remember seeing that CCL Laundry thread there until someone posted in it this past week).
So, bear with us just a little longer as we do a couple of tests.
Theoretically, the "roll call guidelines" stickies with NO posts in them since they were created should be rolling off the recent tab later on this afternoon.
If this works, we will revise how we handle stickies in the future (but those that use the recent tab will have to look at them for 7 days... there's no way around that).

OR, make them a stickie AFTER the 7 days is up.
In the meantime, let's all take up on Debs offer for her to come and flick her finger.

Thats good. 7 day roll over shold not be an issue since not that many are created.

Yes, and many announcements can be posted as a sticky for a couple of days and then "downgraded" to a regular thread after that (like this one).
