As CTT continues to grow with new members and new posts we have activated a time limit that each user will have to edit their own posts.  Currently we have set this time limit to "self edit" to 1 hour, we feel that this is sufficient for correcting most major errors in a post.
If you notice a typo a few hours later, please don't fret, no one probably noticed anyway.  :big grin:

If a MAJOR ERROR is noticed in post after the 1 hour "self edit" time has expired, please PM an administrator and we will take care of the edit for you.

Thank you for your continued support and growth of CTT!

1 hour editing time sounds reasonable to me!

We never had unlimited.  There was alwaysa time limit we just shortened it a bit.  We did it to maintain consistency between quoted posts and the original.

Since we're all going to operate Survivor when Bama qualifies, why don't we just buy another board?? There's a few unused ones kicking around ... isn't there?

whoops, just had to edit........ hey, shit happens.

Beats me. Those two kind of run together in my head sometimes although I do remember the Wicked Witch and Auntie Em quite well. :big grin:

I didn't know the whole fools group....   so not sure about the bandwidth....  unless we're talking about all the scary-ass clipart and graphics and icons that Auntie had all over the place (that I kept bitching about since I used dialup at home).

Note to self: Set up a fund for Amy to get DSL at home! :big grin:

HUH???  I still don't see the reason! A post can be quoted a second after it is posted and often is.....

Personally, I always like the seemingly open ended "feature".  I was planning on going back and sterilizing my dates and hotel info for one of my future trips when I was done with the thread.

Right...  but when the post is quoted and commented on...  and the the ORIGINAL post gets edited (after it's already been quoted), there's the consistancy issue.

Well it wasn't open ended, you really only had roughly a day and a half to self-edit before.

One of us admins would be happy to take care of whatever removals you want on whatever threads - just email/PM one of us!  :big grin:

Yes, and the original post and quote will both be the same. BUT if someone comes in 45 hours later and changes the original post, then the quote will not be the same as the now edited post. Besides, who really needs 45 hours to edit a post? I call THAT ridiculous! One hour is sufficient in most cases to make any edits to spelling, grammar or change the content if necessary. Anything beyond that we can live with.

In cases beyond an hour if the post REALLY needs an edit, the Admins can do that. We already edit title's on request because no one ever had the ability to do it themselves. This will also solve the problem of posts being deleted in protest or because they didnt' like the response they received from other posters. ;)
