| Lately, if you reply to a thread and your post starts a new page, you get an error message. Anyone who tries to get to your post receives the same problem. It is only solved by someone making what turns out to be the second post on the new page. Is this just because our thread (Dawn Pirates roll call) is so large?

Hmmm.....interesting. This has not happened to me. Possibly it is because that thread is so long??? 
Maybe Deb or Gramps would know?

| The same thing has been happening on the Gem 2/6 roll call. We just post what is now called a page turner to get to the last page.

| Hmmm, I don't believe we've run into this problem before. So far, it does seem to be associated with threads over 500 pages long.

Is there any reason why thte thread can't be closed and just start a brand new one? I wouldn't think that would make a difference to the posters every day.

We're discussing that idea now  . If we would just start a new thread, say in the Cocktail Party area, would it be possible to somehow leave the old one there (kind of inactive) with a posting announcing the move? Leaving it there for a while and adding a subtopic with the move would be great if that could be done.

I don't think we've ever had that problem in the Early Morning Thread, have we??? It's well over 500 pages....

I am not sure what the concerns are. It is no problem to start a new thread, and we can just close the old one. It won't poof or dissappear.
Am I missing something? We have old blowing off steam threads that we closed, but they still exist, just not at the top of the page.

I agree. What is the big deal about chatting on a new thread? Like you said, the old one will still be here for anyone to go back and look at, in case anyone would want to do that.
It would be the same topic, same posters.....what's the difference?

Actually.... it's not really the "administrators concerns".... we were just trying to figure out WHY some threads were having problems with posts that are the page turners (and then how to fix it) - NCL Dawn Pirates and the NCL Gem threads seem to have issues with it. But it's not a problem in the Early Morning Thread, which is over 500 pages too...?

Without actually seeing it, I can't say for sure. Although, from what's been reported thus far, it seems to be a problem only on specific, very long threads in the rollcall section. Try posting a "page turner" post then post again and see if that works.

As suggested just open the first page of the thread and post a page turner post. The other option would be to start a new thread for the roll call. With 30 days to go the members are willing to put up with it and keep a single thread.
