Thank you, Barbara, and WELCOME TO CTT!

I'll be cutting/pasting the responses from this thread in an e-mail to my Dad. I'm sure all your experiences will help him make his decision. Thank you all!

DH and I did a 27 day cruise on Oceania Nautica in Nov/Dec 2007.  LOVED IT!

No formal nights (less luggage to haul), great people (45-infinity) who love to travel, best itineraries around,  very good food (although, with the exception of the two specialty restaurants, not quite as good as Regent) , fabulous trivia games, and outstanding crew members .  We have traveled on Celebrity, Princess and multiple times on Regent.  Yes, signing chits for cocktails gets old, but it is no different on any of the lines I mentioned.  Regent does include wine with dinner and soft drinks are free, but cocktails did incur an extra charge.  Lemonade, fruit punch, and iced tea were free on Oceania.  There was a daily Happy Hour that offered 2 for the price of 1 drinks.  No extra charges for expresso or coffee drinks.  Lovely spa and thalassotherapy pool and lots of choices for daytime activities.  Also, their cruise director, Ray Solaire, is hands down the most talented cruise director I have ever encountered.

Like any cruise line, the downside depends on the individual.  We had done quite a bit of homework on Oceania and also relied on our trusty TA's recommendations, since she knows us quite well.  We went in with fairly high expectations and were not disappointed.

We are booked on two future cruises - Regatta's Stockholm to Dover in August, and back on Nautica for Venice to Athens in 2009.
